The Modular Desktop (ModTop) is a fully wireless portable desktop system. Instead of laptops that restrict a lot of flexibility with their rigid set body, the ModTop can be used anywhere and can be used without a table. It uses a compact battery powered pc that wirelessly connects to the battery-powered monitor. The PC would stream its display to the monitor using a wireless video connection, while the keyboard and mouse connect through Bluetooth or their own wireless dongle using USB. The goal is to create a desktop workstation that can be carried in a backpack and set up anywhere without needing HDMI, a wall outlet, or a docking station.
The monitor can be placed anywhere using
magnets for attachment to metal surfaces
an arm for resting on a flat surface
VESA mount for VESA arms
other attachment methods that can be made by the user due to a modular rail system on the back.
It involves portable power design, wireless video streaming, battery management, cooling, and more.
