day 3/4: wrote a LOT more of the story, including mapping out 5 endings! our team artist made some more amazing character designs like this one below :) (name tbd) which i’ve started importing. my next few goals are to: add in backgrounds and the rest of the characters, attach variables to every decision so that they all impact which ending you get to varying extents, and making the gui look nicer through adding new fonts, colors, and custom text boxes!

day 1/2: learning ren’py and planning out a story! it actually ended up being way easier than I was expecting to get the hang of ren’py since it’s basically just python, so it looks like the majority of the effort for this project is going to be going towards story writing. got the opening scene done after a bit of rewriting to make it flow better, and we have a draft of the general story. the theme for the game jam is “the void,” so the way we’ve decided to incorporate this is that you have to fight a void-like entity that sucks the life out of everything she touches, while making new friends (or killing them, it’s up to you) along the way.
