SMART Controller PCB Buildout: I designed the PCB from scratch. The SMART MX displays my school district just purchased only have IR remotes with no way to change input, volume, etc. besides getting up and pressing buttons on the screen, which became the job of myself or other students which I do not want to do. This board takes an RS232 serial connection that it outputs and converts it to UART before passing it to an ESP32, where I will write software to connect to the ESP32 with a cell phone, physical remote, bluetooth peripheral, etc.

Basic schematic is complete! Moving now to footprint assignments, PCB layout

Planned functionality complete, but one more thing… I am going to add an HDMI switcher, so this one box handles basically everything for switching between two machines.

Added potentiometer, pinout for display, microcontroller.

DAC is wired to a USB port that will probably be replaced with an internal one on a hub later. Everything here is pretty much good to go with parts picked out and written down (as well as values in datasheet/project I can reference if needed, but i have JLCPCB part numbers written)

I made huge progress with an effectively working proof of concept in this first session. I was able to successfully scrape the nebula “”“api””” to make a more user-friendly version that I will then consume in the extension. Additionally, the methods that the extension will use to match videos seem promising, comparing publish date (low confidence), duration (medium confidence), title (high confidence). I will make api methods as well as the basic extension and clean up for a git commit in my next session
