I made my own Slackbot that can do some basic functions-related functions (pun intended). I really enjoyed testing it and connecting it to Newton’s API. It was kind of challenging to make the bot function 24/7 at first, but once I understood it, it was very easy. Overall, this was a low-cortisol mission that I really enjoyed making. Hopefully, it will be more powerful in the future. (more calculus??!!)

Ready to ship!

After a good hour or so, I’m done making my Slackbot! Mathman has various features (including a catfact feature), specialising in functions. Using Newton’s API, he can calculate derivatives, integrals, zeroes, as well as simplify and factorise functions.

I am finally about to ship my project. I thought that the Moon Phase would take the longest to code, but it ended up being the calculator that was most difficult. I also added JS for the calendar and made a quick access links bar at the bottom. I COMPLETELY revamped the design, taking inspiration from both Apple’s Liquid Glass and Stardance’s own website to style it. I’m pretty darn proud of my work on this project. Here’s what it looks like right now:

I made a new tab page for anyone to use day-to-day. It was challenging to make the JS for the calculator, as well as styling my site to look like liquid glass. I most enjoyed styling my site, as I could see my site come together aesthetically. I really enjoyed making my site, a well-spent 8 hours not gonna lie.

3 hours later, I’m done with HTML, and started JS ## I have added quite a few features to MathTab: A graphing calculator, calendar, normal calculator, dual time clock, moon phase graphic and moon age, and shortcuts. The only JS-fitted feature right now is the dual time clock. Here’s what it looks like right now:

I got ragebaited by the free 10,000 stardust hack # ## But it’s okay because I kept working and here’s my project so far. The building blocks for the elements are setting in: Search bar and calendar rn but keep in mind the colours are completely for distinguishing rn, and I haven’t touched JS yet. On the left is HTML. Again, if you have any feature suggestions please lmk in the comments.

Finished initial setup before actual coding. I’m working on a new project now, a new tab, and I just love the new tutorial, I think it’s so much better than the one for WebOS because the WebOS one had quite a bit missing. Other than that, I’ve finished the first 3 stages of the guide and here’s my code: (Not a lot to see, I know)

I made a very simple OS, and though it has very little to show, I am very proud of it. More features should be on the way soon (I might build a hardware project, though). I feel that Hackatime was a bit confusing, especially when using a codespace in VS code. I hope the features are cool and you guys can mess around on my site!

Planning to ship now! I have made a simple app, where if you click the “Messing Around” button, a random website gets opened. I also updated my README, and I think I’m ready to ship now. Here’s the list of all website the button can open and my JS for it:

After more than a month of not doing anything, I came back and finished my text-based app, Ronaldo quotes. I used other sources on the internet because I found that the Jam was a little confusing. On the right is my new app and on the left is the JS code for it. Btw, if anyone here knows how to use the H1, H2, H3, without all of the text being affected please lmk in comments.

Finally finished the first half of Jam 4 (I know, I know, but I had exams, okay?). I have two windows, they both drag, open, close, and, on tap and on open, go on top of each other. I really shouldn’t be feeling this accomplished but I am. Here’s my code (JS) and my final result! BTW if any of you has any suggestions PLEASE lmk, I’d love it. Thanks for your time!

Cleaned up my code. That’s pretty much all for today, just organised my in-line CSS into class-based CSS, and here are screenshots of my new code:

Devlog #5 Almost (almost) finished Jam 3. The welcome window opens and closes properly, and the “Messing around” button opens the tab, while the wheel icon closes it.

Almost done Jam 3, looking to fix the close button option. I’m trying to make the wheel image a close button for the welcome window, but I am tired and I need to sleep so I will make that later. Otherwise, everything is going well, and my WebOS is coming together. The “Messing Around” button is currently the open button for the welcome screen. (P.S. only 1 screenshot today because I am not in the mood to reopen VS code again {its past my bedtime!})

Hi again! After a week of troubleshooting and struggling with Hackatime, I have finally finished the second Jam of the WebOS tutorial 😭. I removed the Ronaldo part (temporarily) but he will come back once I figure out how to add clickable elements in the OS. (the goat will come back). I also made the OS look much slicker (in my opinion).

Finished part 1 of the WebOS 1 tutorial! My website still looks pretty basic, like this. The other screenshot is all the code in VS code for the website.
