Solace is an alternative network indicator for macOS that lives in the Menu Bar.
It performs an HTTP request to determine if your network is able to successfully connect to the internet, unlike the built-in Wi-Fi indicator, and sends a notification when it detects this. It does this check periodically (every 30 seconds by default, adjustable) and whenever the system detects a network change.
It also has some extra functionality, displaying both private and public IP addresses (public IP API provided by ipify by default, can switch to ipify's IPv6 API or seeip for either IPv4 or IPv6), and you can select either one to copy it to the clipboard.
It's a simple, but useful "quality of life" tool that someone out there will appreciate.
Notes for testers:
Solace is compatible with macOS Tahoe and later, and you can test it in a lot of ways to get different results (like setting your DNS server to something invalid, disconnecting your router from the internet, disabling Wi-Fi entirely, changing the request URL to something invalid)
