@davidhanwu on Foreign invaders invading
I built Foreign Invaders Invading, a simple space shooter using Python and Pygame. Players can move their spaceship, shoot bullets, and fight against fleets of moving aliens.
The most challenging part was debugging the game. I struggled with sprite movement, collision detection, and resetting the game after the spaceship was hit. I also spent quite a lot of time figuring out how to package my Python code into a Windows executable, especially fixing the image paths.
I’m proud that I managed to turn what I learned about Python and object-oriented programming into an actual playable game. It’s still a relatively simple project, but solving these problems on my own taught me a lot about how game development works.
To test the game: Download the Windows ZIP file from my GitHub Release, extract the entire folder, and run AlienInvasion.exe. Use the left and right arrow keys to move, Space to shoot, and 1 to quit.
This is my first playable version, and I hope to add a scoring system and more gameplay features in future updates!
