Final Devlog - WorkParcel is done! and i am using it now!

After spending a lot of time designing, building, testing and fixing WorkParcel, the main version of the app is finally ready!

WorkParcel started from a simple problem I kept noticing. Whenever I worked on a project, I had multiple apps, files, folders and useful links open. If I closed everything and returned later, I had to manually find and reopen the whole setup again.

That is exactly what WorkParcel is made for.

A user can now create a parcel for a task and add the apps, open windows, files, folders and web links connected to it. Creating the parcel keeps the current setup open. Later, the user can use Pack Away to close selected supported application windows and Open Parcel to reopen the saved items.

I also added a to-do list feature. Tasks can now be connected to a particular parcel, so the user can remember what needs to be done when returning to that project. These tasks are also available through the Today page, making it easier to see and manage important work.

Parcel archiving is working now as well.
Item management has also been completed and fixed. Users can remove a particular app, file, folder or link from a parcel, and it disappears from the interface immediately. This only removes the saved WorkParcel record—the original file or folder on the computer is never deleted.

Files and folders can also be checked for availability and relinked if their location changes. Web links are saved as normal URLs and open in the default Windows browser. The app does not require any Chrome or Edge extension and does not claim to capture or close individual browser tabs.

All parcel information is stored locally using SQLite, so the saved setup remains available after closing and reopening WorkParcel. I also added archive and restore, search, local backups, light and dark themes, and a downloadable Windows installer.

WorkParcel is basically a place where you can pack away the digital setup connected to a task and return to it later without searching for everything again.

Like, as soon as i completed makin this, I have started usin it! like the besttttt thing i have ever madee.

Devlog 3 — WorkParcel Is Properly Working!

After completing the UI, I finally worked on making the main WorkParcel system actually functional. Users can now create a parcel and easily select everything connected to their work setup. WorkParcel can show the apps and windows currently open on the computer, and the user can choose only the particular ones they want to save.

Files can be selected using the Windows file picker, and multiple files can be added at once. Complete folders can also be selected, along with useful links, applications and notes. Everything is organised into separate categories with checkboxes, so users remain in control of exactly what gets included. Before packing the parcel, WorkParcel shows a review of the complete selection too!!!!!

Once confirmed, all the selected items are packed together and saved locally. The parcel remains available even after WorkParcel or the computer is restarted. When the user returns, they can open the parcel, review everything saved inside it and choose which items they want to reopen. Files open through their regular applications, folders open in File Explorer, links open in the default browser and supported apps can launch again.

The Pack Away option also lets users update the parcel whenever their setup changes. New items can be added, old ones can be removed, and the latest version of the workspace can be saved for the next time.

Removing something from WorkParcel never deletes the original file or folder from the computer. So WorkParcel has now moved beyond being only a UI prototype—the main system properly works. Apps, files, folders, links and notes can all be selected easily, packed into one parcel and reopened whenever that complete setup is needed again.

Now, cuz finally it works, i just need to do some testing and also like I am thinking to add another feature like a exact window layout restoration, so that i can open the whole setup as it is! like if my vs code was on the left side and chrome tab on the right, it would open the same way! Now i just need to figure out how i will make that happen…. lets see!!

Devlog 2 — WorkParcel UI Complete!

Hii! So i am a bit sick, so couldn’t work much today, but I completed working on the UI of WorkParcel and gave it a clean, dark look instead of making it feel like another productivity app. I also organised the whole app properly and added different tabs to the navbar — Parcels, Today, Archive and Settings.

The overview of the app

The main Parcels page makes it easy to view saved setups, search through them and choose whether to open or pack them away (so that its easy to navigate thru).

I also designed the Create New Parcel popup, parcel details screen and the Capture Current Setup flow, where users will be able to select specific apps, windows, browser tabs, files, folders, links and notes they want to save inside a parcel.

The Today page has a simple to-do list, while Archive keeps older parcels separate from the main workspace.

Mainly completed the visual design and navigation. Next, I’ll connect everything to real local storage so parcels and to-do items stay saved even after restarting the app.
Also, I wanna make a few more changes in the UI to make it look a bit more well structured.

Devlog 1 — Starting WorkParcel

I spent some time brainstorming a new project idea and thought about an issue that I, and probably a lot of other devs, face regularly.

While workin on a project, we usually have a bunch of specific files, folders, browser tabs, notes, VS Code windows and other apps open. Once we close everything and return later, we have to manually find and reopen the entire setup again.
That’s where the idea for WorkParcel came from.

What it lets you do

WorkParcel will let users create a “parcel” for a task and add everything connected to it. Later, they’ll be able to click Open Parcel and quickly reopen that complete workspace. For the first part, I set up the GitHub repo, connected it to VS Code and initialised the project using C#, .NET 10 and WinUI 3.
There isn’t much to visually show yet, but the complete foundation is ready now. Next, I’ll start designing the actual WorkParcel UI.

I am so excited to complete making this project, cuz I’d def would want to use this, as it will def be very helpful.

Worked on the “Rules” feature

Soo, the rules feature wasn’t working properly in CleanSlate, so I fixed that issue and now the Rules properlyy works.

Btw if u wanna know what “Rules” features is for - The Rules feature lets you tell CleanSlate where specific files should go based on their filename, extension, size, or age.

For example, you can create “filename contains invoice → move to Documents”, and every matching invoice file will be organised into the Documents folder.

And yhhh, i shipped my project b4 writing a devlog for this.

Final Devlog — CleanSlate Is Ready to Ship!!!

I packaged the entire project into a standalone .exe, tested the packaged version and created the first official GitHub Release page. People can now download CleanSlate, double-click the file and use it without installing Python, setting up a virtual environment or running any commands.

CleanSlate is now a fully functional Windows application. Users can visit the Releases page, download CleanSlate-v0.1.0-Windows-x64.exe from the Assets section and open it like a normal desktop app.

This is still the first public version, so there will definitely be more improvements and probably some bugs to fix.

But the complete main journey now works:

Select a folder — Scan the files — Review the results — Find cleanup opportunities — Safely take action

What started as an idea for organising messy Downloads and Desktop folders has now become an actual application that other people can download and use.

Devlog 2 — CleanSlate Can Finally Scan Files!

Sooo yhh, I completed the working of this application!! (also i forgot to mention in last devlog - like an hour or two wasn’t counted by hackatime for this, cuz i linked it with hackatime like after 1.5 hrs workin over it, and then realizing)

The file-scanning system is now workin!!! CleanSlate can scan a folder selected by the user and collect info bout every file inside it - its name, extension, size, location and modification date.

It then uses this information to recognise diff types of files such as images, videos, documents etc.
For duplicate detection, CleanSlate first compares file sizes and then calculates hashes to check whether the contents are actually identical. This prevents two different files with similar names from being incorrectly marked as duplicates.

After arranging the files inside it, It first gives arrangement preview showing where CleanSlate recommends moving each file, and once the user approves that! It automatically moves those files into categories, Alsooo (in the pic attached) is like the settings area, and here you can change to light mode too, and also rename the file, Cleanslate will name, it after rearranging.

The mechanism is working properly and CleanSlate can now understand what is present inside a messy folder instead of only displaying a dashboard.

This was a pretty short project i worked over, but it was fun making this!!! And finally it is a proper application that can be easily downloaded too.

Devlog 1 — Beginning with CleanSlate

Today I started working on my new software project called CleanSlate. CleanSlate is a desktop application that will help people organise messy folders on their computers.

Folders like Downloads often become filled with hundreds of images, videos, documents, ZIP files and software installers. Yhh, i myself face that a lottt and finding a particular file later becomes very frustrating.

CleanSlate is being designed to scan these files, separate them into suitable categories and help the user organise everything safely.

## What i did todayyy-
Brainstormed a lot and mainly worked on creating the basic structure of the application.
I designed the dashboard and added a navigation bar on the left side. I have written all the content to be mentioned in the dashboard and the buttons for scanning etc.
Soooo, i majorly thought after this that how will different pages be arranged and how users will move through the application.

Next, I will begin making the actual folder-scanning and file-organisation system!!!

Devlog: Blink upgraded!

I’ve been working on turning Blink from a basic interpreter into a more complete and beginner-friendly programming language.

It can now perform many tasks that Python handles through functions and keywords—but using simple, English-like commands.

Here are the newest Blink commands and features:

-make, run, and give for creating and using custom functions

-list , add , remove , and ```length of```` for working with lists

-item … of, change item, has, and position of for accessing and updating list items

-for each for looping through every item in a list

-ask text and ask number for receiving typed user input

-{variable} text filling for placing values directly inside sentences

-stop loop and skip turn for controlling loops

-details, put … as … in, and "label" from details for storing labelled information

-uppercase of, lowercase of, trim, split … by, and join … with for working with text

-try and if error for handling problems without crashing the program

-also added and improved Blink’s command-line tools

And a few moreee commands - it was fun making those!!!

Blink now also provides clearer error messages with filenames, line numbers, helpful hints, and spelling suggestions such as:
Did you mean “say”?

Blink is now much closer to being a properly usable programming language—while still keeping its main idea intact- making coding feel like simple English.

Also i have added few more example programs!

I will still continue working over this even more to polish it!

Devlog 5

Today I worked on finishing the last parts of MemoryMap.
I improved the dashboard UI. The dashboard now looks much cleaner, more organised and more complete.

I also worked on:
-better campus cards
-search, filters and sorting
-guest mode
-invite links
-mobile responsiveness

I also added the option to upload a custom cover photo for a campus. This makes every campus feel more personal and attractive.

I tested all the main features properly and checked the website on diff screen sizes as well.
The main issues with login and invite links are also resolved now!

And finally, I am done with the website now. And will ship it soon!!!!

Devlog 4

Today I worked on gettin MemoryMap much closer to a proper working product.
I first fixed and improved a lot of things in the dashboard, campus cards, delete option, login flow and guest mode.

A user can copy a campus link, send it to a frnd, and that person should either log in first or directly join if already signed in.

I also added the campus delete option. The UI part is done, but I spent a lot of time debugging why deletion works locally but fails on the deployed Vercel site.

Rn most of the main website is done, just gonna make few more changes and checking all features of the website.

Devlog 3

I made a way where anyone can try making a campus map as a guest, instead of signing in. And also improved the UI for setup page.

And added another option to delete a created campus, but i am unable to make permanent deletion work…. and have been trying since sooo longgggg, have been going from the code to vercel to firebase and back to the code. I spent over 1.5 hours on just vercel and firestore settings.
I am tiredddd…. hope this works soon.

Devlog 2

After finishing the login page, I started working on the complete MemoryMap flow.

Rn users can create a new campus by entering the place name. After that, they get a proper setup page where they can add floors, rooms and corridors & stairs. Rooms can be moved, resized and renamed, so users can design the campus in their own way. Sounds exciting right?!

I also made the completed campus view in a dark theme, where users can click on any room and open its memory panel.
Inside each room, users can add incidents in text form and also upload images.

I also added the invite system.
Campus owners can copy a private invite link and send it to their frnds. The shared campus also appears later on their own dashboard.

Along the way, I fixed many UI issues, modal layouts, navbar structure, text colours, Firestore permissions and campus loading errors.

Overall i am lovin this idea rn! and its working well tooo!!!

Devlog 1

Introducing MemoryMap

Today I started working on MemoryMap, a private digital place where memories are saved according to the place where they happened.

So, instead of searching through old photos or WhatsApp chats, you open your private school map, click a place like the Chemistry Lab, classroom, auditorium or basketball court, and see all the photos and stories connected to that place.

You can create your own private campus, add rooms, invite only your friends (so whatever memory map you create is private), and everyone can save memories inside the rooms. Basically, it’s like walking through your school again online and reopening all the moments that happened there.

I thought about this idea, when i myself felt when me and my friends pass out schl, we’d forget sooo many incidents that we laugh at daily! And to keep those memories safe in one place, this website will be the best thing! @satvikhardat @Churu @Harman

Right now, after brainstorming a lot, I started working on the landing page, login page, and UI of the website! And i have attached an ss of the demo of the dashboard that i have added on the main landing page. I am soo excited tbh for this website cuz i can also use this later to save soo many incidents and pics.

   Reworked the homepage layout to improve visual hierarchy and clarity and shifted to a text-first, minimal design approach to better reflect the product’s intent.

   Added a custom loading screen to improve first-time user experience.

3. AI Experience Improvements
   Refined how responses are displayed using structured cards, improved visual clarity of AI-generated insights.

ProblemFirst is now complete — a fully working, thoughtfully designed product ready to be experienced.
