Added automatic palette sizing powered by the CIELAB color space! Now when not specifying a palette size it tries to find a good size to use automatically. Because of the color conversion, it’s quite a bit slower. I’ll look into optimizations soon

Also, I added Kitchen Sink, another fun 6x8 pixel font.

Below is an image auto-assigned to only need 4 COLORS– and it looks super!

Released v1.0 of Textwise!

Textwise is a TUI-based program powered by Node that generates “textmode”-styled mosaics based on provided images or procedurally generated gradients.

  • Allows processing existing images and making procedural gradients
  • Comes bundled with 6 fonts
  • Palettes are procedural and size can be specified
  • Supports solid and per-glyph background colors
