WebOS Tarnished Edition is a browser-based desktop environment themed around Elden Ring, built in plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no frameworks, no build step. Just open index.html and it runs.
It behaves like a real desktop: draggable resizable windows, a taskbar, and a start menu. Nine apps ship with it — a file manager, a browser that loads real websites, a text editor, a terminal, a calculator, a music player that generates ambient audio via the Web Audio API, a task journal with persistent storage, a live camera viewer, and a character status panel.
Beyond the apps, there's a rune counter that rewards you for using the OS, a stamina bar that drains over a session and throws a "you died" screen when it hits zero, and a hidden easter egg in the terminal.
No server. No npm. No configuration. One folder of static files.
