Beginning what I think will become a toolbox of maintenance tools. First one: keyboard blocking. Did some research on it, relearnt functions and modules, and discovered tkinter. Yay!

[placeholder] uses NASA’s APOD API and fetches its picture, video, or YT vid based on the day you input.

It was difficult to integrate the YouTube part, mostly because my brain shut off (it was 2 am), but re-learning JS and CSS was equally as difficult.

Overall, this project helped me jump back into the cold trail of building websites. This certainly isn’t impressive, but shows that I at least know a bit of JS…

completely forgot to make devlogs for this. whoops

so started this project and learnt that NASA gave free api keys which is pretty cool
but then my brain stopped and so a bit of Googling was required to help me understand the JS part

finished all that, took upon the challenge to embed the youtube video, but struggled, so threw that aside and did a bit of CSS, in the process found this cool stripe design from CSSTricks

managed to get the YouTube part working (just grab the code from youtube) and yeah. [placeholder] works

Went to CTC Bagotville for some summer training and procrastinated like a good IB student

Basically did CAD for like two hours, Fusion is so hard to learnnn
(Had a temporary heart attack too as Fusion showed a previous model and I thought it didn’t save)

Nevermind… stuck with Fusion (still hate it). But I have something that looks like a case at least…
Going to continue working on it. Still have a top to make

So overhauled the PCB again… managed to reduce the number of vias and even shrunk the PCB! Also tried making a case in Fusion… hated it. Heard Onshape is pretty good, going to go try that out.

Completely overhauled the PCB, and added some silkscreen :> (632 RCACS 4ever)
I think I have too many vias, but can’t see another way around it… oh well, I’ll pay the price for it eventually (so please leave feedback…)
Time to make a case :D

First time doing hardware, first time posting a devlog, kinda nervous ~

So what’s RapidPad? Just my own HackPad I plan to torture with (this means trying out a bunch of stuff on it). It’ll have nine keys, a rotary encoder, and an OLED screen (subject to change, of course).

Anyways:

  • Created a schematic. This took ages to modify: initially wanted 16 keys, but not enough connections, and I wanted to add a bunch of other stuff. In the end, I settled on nine keys, a rotary encoder and the OLED panel. Then had to learn matrix-wiring: Joe Scotto’s tutorial was pretty good
  • Created a PCB. I attached a photo to show I 100% definitely knew what I was doing :> Jokes aside, I was not sure what I was doing. I’m going to ask in #hackpad, but if you have feedback, PLEASE TELL ME

Anyways, it’s 0254. I’m going to sleep goodbye
