PATCHWORK — Your Personal Productivity Workspace
PATCHWORK is a lightweight productivity app designed to help people organize tasks, capture ideas, and keep useful links in one place.
Instead of spreading information across multiple apps and tabs, PATCHWORK brings everyday organization into a single, simple workspace.
Key features:
Task management: Create tasks, set priorities, assign due dates, and track completion.
Notes: Capture and organize ideas.
Link collection: Keep useful resources together.
Quick Capture: Add information without navigating through multiple screens.
Search and filtering: Find items more easily.
Dashboard: Get an overview of tasks and progress.
Persistent storage: Keep saved items after refreshing the page using browser local storage.
Built with: React, TypeScript, Vite, and CSS.
The problem I wanted to solve:
Keeping track of tasks, ideas, and useful resources can become difficult when they are scattered across different places. I built PATCHWORK to bring these everyday productivity tools into one workspace that is straightforward to use.
The challenges I faced:
One of the biggest challenges was bringing all the different parts of PATCHWORK together into one working application. Getting the React components, TypeScript, styling, and local storage to work together took time, testing, and debugging. Setting up Git, publishing my code on GitHub, and deploying the app were also new experiences that I had to work through. There were moments when things didn’t work as expected, but I learned to troubleshoot problems one step at a time.
Another important challenge was making sure that tasks and notes remained saved after refreshing the page. Since PATCHWORK uses browser local storage, I needed to ensure that the app could save data correctly and load it again when reopened.
This project taught me that building an application involves much more than just writing code. It requires patience, problem-solving, testing, and a willingness to learn from mistakes. I know that future bugs and challenges may arise, and I’m ready to approach them by investigating the problem, trying solutions, and learning along the way.
What makes me proud:
I’m most proud of taking PATCHWORK from an idea to a working, publicly accessible application. And I’m proud of that I spent over eight hours working on this project, learning new things, fixing issues, and improving the result along the way. This experience gave me more confidence in my ability to build and publish projects of my own.
Things I learned:
Building PATCHWORK gave me practical experience with React components, TypeScript, UI styling, browser storage, Git, GitHub, and deploying a web application.
