I'm a 14-year-old, and lately I've been working on an app to help people in America pick health insurance plans. I also want to get into making hardware.

It’s been a while since my last devlog. Sorry about that. My computer broke and then I’ve been spending a lot of time on this new feature. The feature is an alternative tool to find a health insurance plan that is best for you. Instead of gathering data about you and recommending a plan based on that, like the previous tool did, this addition has the user answer a questionnaire. The app then map the user’s answers to different types of plans, and then filters the plan from there. Also, I’m not sure why but this devlog is only logging 2.25 hours when hackatime says I have around 12 hours since my last devlog. Anyway, I hope you the app so far!

I added a list of questions and possible answers. These questions will be used to determine what types of plans fit the user best. For example, it asks a question to help determine if users are comfortable paying less monthly with a risk of large, unexpected payments. I plan to route each answer to a different variable that each plan is tagged with. For instance, each plan either has poor, standard, strong, or very strong drug coverage. Each answer about drug coverage is matched with one of those levels. Whichever answer the user picks is the level of drug coverage that they want in a plan. From there I can narrow down plans for them. I will make it all a user friendly interface after that.

So far, I have added a base list of variables that I am going to use to make the next page of my app. On the next page of my app, the user will be able to pick an insurance plan by narrowing down the categories of plans through simple choices prompted by the app. The variables track those different choices and what plans match which choices. What took up most of my time was figuring out which variables I could have that would apply to every plan, since many things are inconstitent between plans. I’m excited to see how this next step comes along!
