16 years old, learning to code cool stuff

I made GoatOS, a goat themed web operating system. Since I'm just learning coding for the first time, the project took a while but I'm really proud of how it turned out! GoatOS features goat photos and a lot of educational information about goats.

4th devlog-
I finished the README for GoatOS, and completed my GoatGallery app.

It took me a little while to sync all my changes, but now GoatOS is complete!

You can now access it in the demo url, and I’ll be shipping this project.

3rd devlog-

I made an app!

GoatFacts-It’s a text-based app where you can see facts about goats by clicking on categories. I think I was coding faster than I was before, because it didn’t take super long. It was a lot of trial and error for me though, and I had to change the style of it about 4 times to try to get something I liked. I think I am satisfied with the results now!

GoatGallery- also began working on a second app that shows pictures of goats, along with some information about the breed. It has been going smoothly, as I mostly just had to remember what I did for the other app, and then adjust.

All that’s left mostly to do is to finish GoatGallery and tweak a few things, and then it’s basically finished!
Hopefully last devlog 🤞 and then I’ll be shipping GoatOS!

2nd devlog-
Today I changed the welcome page to fit more to the vibe of the website, created it to be draggable, as well as open and close.
I made the top bar it’s own color and used js to track the time, updating it.
Some challenges I found while doing this was that it was hard 💀
I’ve never coded, except a little bit of Python so all of this was a learning experience for me, but it began to get faster as I learned. A lot of the hours were changing things to look different, or fixing errors.
Hopefully the next devlog I’ll have worked faster and have learned more as well.
The next thing to do is to create apps to make it look more like an official OS, and I hope to be able to ship it soon after that!

Yesterday I began working on GoatOS. So far, I have created a welcome page with a desktop background, and a top bar that shows the date and time. In the welcome page I stated the purpose of the site, to serve as your go-to Goat operating system.

Some challenges I found while doing these were that centering the welcome page was difficult, but after a few minutes of researching I was able to figure it out.
It was also a struggle to figure out how to make it look more like an OS rather than a plain website.

The next steps I plan to take are that I’ll create multiple different windows that will be draggable, have a random-goat picture generator, and create goat themed apps.
