Spent about 5 hours today, mostly fixes, major changes, and new app

Text Editor:

Dedicated Text editor that can open certain files from Files app.
View and Edit the files easily instead of just previewing it
!! was unable to design it properly because of issues with backdrop blur so had to use solid zinc background color

Unified Filesystem

Future-proofed it so that it can be used in Files.tsx and upcoming Terminal.tsx
Fixed minor bugs
Changed create, restore, delete logic

Files

Added an Empty Trash button
Can restore files now
Open in text editor button
Few bug fixes

Tests

• Added vitest
• Added tests for FileSystemStore and WindowStore
• 14 tests and 2 test files, all passed (commit: Phase 6)

I think i forgot other things, i guess you can read the repo to understand them, also i forgot to use prettier to format all files

Devlog 6

Just like devlog 5, took most time making changes, fixing issues, adding new features

Calendar App

A tiny app, non-resizable, calendar app, without mantine/dates, uses Dayjs instead

New:

• resizable boolean to prevent specific windows from being resized
• minHeight and minWidth now limit window resizing
• maxHeight and maxWidth now set a resize limit

Changes:

• Changed the look and feel of Context Menu
• Removed all menus from Topbar
• Removed mantine entirely, postcss as well
• Set a boundary, windows cant go outside Desktop
• Changed Icons
• Dock now shows up when windows are minimized

Devlog 5

Took 7 hours, most time spent on fixing major and minor bugs, Files app n logic was lowkey hard

Files

Virtual FileSystem

• delete, create, edit, move, update files or folders
• allow making any file: image, audio, video, text, code, anything
• saves the whole filesystem and every single thing in it inside localStorage

Files App

• allow creating file or folder
• easy sidebar to navigate
• search
• all major folders listed in sidebar

Changes in existing Apps and windows

Modification

• Made the window background to match the controls
• Used zinc 900 for Toolbar and all other main sections
• Made buttons more colorful and all
• Overall looks good in my opinion
• Matches the accent color
• Still need a lil bit more improvement and theming

Devlog 4

Added AppLauncher

• Launches apps
• Search
• Hotkeys
• Shows all apps

Devlog 3

• FYI: Dont mind the icons, ill change them soon

Apps

• Notes: stores in localstorage, upto 10 notes
• Calculator: just a basic calculator

Desktop + Desktop Icons:

• Added shortcuts with icons to launch apps
• Not interactive for now

Window + WindowManager:

• Added Maximize, Minimize, Focus and few more

Dock:

• Has an indicator
• A lil bit animated
• Only launches, doesn’t minimize

TopBar:

• Removed blur / transparency cuz had to move bg to Desktop

Devlog 2

Took a long break cuz of school and all

Top bar

• Fixed few issues
• Had to remove blur on the bar
• Removed search button
• Added APIs to fetch your IP and display
• Also displays City and Country
• Added calendar (mantine/dates)

Window, WindowManager & Desktop

• Added blur to windows
• Thats all i guess
• Need improvement

Welcome.tsx

• Added the welcome window
• Look basic, gotta customize it

Devlog 1

Been working on this for days, havent finished the top bar yet

Top Bar

• NexOS: About NexOS, link to repo n credits
• Search: Lists all apps, kinda like hyprlauncher but MAYBE i cant make it just like that
• Calendar & Clock: yeah im not making seperate apps for that, the topbar contains both
• Quick settings panel: Basic stuff in it
• Notification panel, opens when QS is opened

• Added more info about myself

• Removed some bloat
• Added a tiny floating footer at the left bottom corner
• Modified navbar a lil bit

Devlog 3

Worked for nearly 2 hours today, spent time fixing the sections in right and left

Color Preview

• For now it is just mock color codes
• The green rectangle is to preview the color user pick
• Added option to copy values

Color History

• Added toggle to show and hide History page
• Stores only HEX in history

Toolbar (Not sure if i made it during Devlog 2 or during this one)

• So, it has the color picker to pick color obviously
• History toggle button

So thats all for now, gotta add the actual stuff next

Devlog 2

Worked on this project for 1 hour and 40 minutes, spent time searching for better icons and fixing minor issues

Theme System

• Added dark mode and light mode toggle, with system theme detection
• Nothing else

Been working on this for like 2 hours and 44 minutes. and spent most time debugging and testing lmao, kinda wasted time.

Tray

Ive added System Tray feature with these options:

• Show Mochi
• Hide
• Quit

Custom Titlebar

The default window titlebar looked not so good, so i added my own, i mean it’s kinda basic but gets the job done. So i added title, minimize and close. Double click to minimize, too.

Used Fluent UI icon svgs for the subtract icon and dismiss icon, and i havent made my own logo for this app.

I havent added the important stuff yet, gotta add color picker, and everything else. Just the UI, for now.

Devlog 1

Very basic personal site.
Made this just to finish that mission.
Look fine.
No projects to show, I’ve abandoned all of them for no reason.
