Today I wanted to make my decision on which battery my drone would use. Since this drone is not planned to prioritize fly time we would need a battery with not much voltage and therefore less weight to our battery. The more weight we have to our battery the more downwards force is being applied to the drone once above the ground, therefore hindering its aerial performance. So I decided to go for a GNB-660-4S-90A-HV 63g which will be strapped onto the drone using two velcro straps on both sides. After I felt that some of the frame structure itself could be modified to reduce weight. Therefore, I decided to pocket both the top and bottom plate to do just that. In the end the weight decreased and the drone looks way better!

Now I began today with figuring our the best flight controller for my FPV Drone. I decided to select a SpeedyBee F405 V4 Stack (20x20) due to it being cheap, well-documented, and very common with many other using it as well. Additionally, 35A is pumped to each of the 4 motors which is solid for not to intense driving especially with this drones purpose to be only used for recording. Now that we have that choice situated I need to mount it onto the drone frame somehow. For this I decided to mount holes where the spacers of the flight controller would sit. However, a big issue that occurred was that the spacers would end up hitting the top plate. Therefore I decided to add a cutout in which no interference shall occur. Next, propellers were to be dealt with. I decided to go for 3.5 inch long propellers with a mounting hole of 1.5 mm in diameter (which matched the motors’ shafts diameter too.) I then went to GrabCAD to get the step file, imported it onto the document and fastened it onto the motors.

Getting started. Quadcopter finished, starting to figuring out the electronics on it. For the drone I really wanted it to be a medium size of about 200 mm by 200mm. Next our bottom frame, which houses the motors, features 4 legs extended from a circular base of around 20mm in radius. The legs are around 103mm from the circular base. Next I wanted to extend the middle with a rectangle of 80 mm in width and 175 mm in length. Now that the structure is finished, to end of the day I decided to figure out which motors to choose. Since our drone frame is made from carbon fiber and at a decent size we do not need a tanky motor that exerts enough speed and torque to keep it hovering. Therefore I decided to go for a Micro 1404 Brushless Motor from EMAX ECO.
