Oh its so pleasant to see the macropad final in shape.
After numerous iterations, numerous changes I am finally done and happy with how my macropad looks.

Yes initially I thought to make it a basic macropad, and then I thought i should make it look like a rocket ship, and now I have finally ended with it looking like the B2 Bomber. Completed the bottom and top case for the macropad, I hope my dimensions and calculations are current and everything fits, only the firmware part remains and I estimate the project could be done by tomorrow. Amazing feeling, designing it myself…

11 hours in the project and i have reached this….

A LOT TO LEARN!!

Started a good CAD task today, completed 80% of the bottom case, added a nose cone that took 4 iterations but i am still not sure about how it looks, tried to add some curvature to the wings as well. First time taking up an ambitious CAD project that I had to design myself with not much help. Will probably add thrusters and work on the top case tomorrow!
A lot to learn!

Least time worked today, only around 20 minutes. Got to keep the streak going but there was lack of time to work, just initialized a github repo today and uploaded all files. By tomorrow, we should start working much more, atleast 1-2 hours a day. more on CAD tomorrow.
A lot to learn!

As the preliminary PCB design is done, today was the day to import our 3d model to OnShape and start CADing, didnt have much time today so got only some basic CAD done trying to create the case for the SpacePad. Still unsure about the design I want to go for and might keep tweaking a bit tmrw. A lot to learn!

Today I tried out a different layout for my SpacePad, mainly changing the position of the Xiao board to place it at the bottom instead of the top to give a good enough space for the usb cable and making it look like a part of my Rocket Ship design. After that I rerouted all the connections of the SpacePad and then added 3d models of all the components and keycap to give the SpacePad it’s look!
A lot to learn!

After completing the schematics of my project yesterday, I worked on decifing the final layout and connections of the pcb. At the start I was looking at some resources to understanding how to route and design a layout for a pcb, and then tried to build the same on my own. I am looking at a probable rocket/spaceship design on my hackpad, and tomorrow is the day I will be starting CAD or graphic design of my pcb. A lot to learn!

As the instructions from the guide were completed, i started working on the v2 of my macropad design. Completed the schematics of the design, i am going with a 3x2 keys matrix and 2 rotary encoders. I am using the matrix connections instead of directly connecting each one to a pin. I also spent a lot of time figuring how to do the schematics for my custom design because its my first time designing a pcb, Joe Scotto’s tutorial is brilliant in doing so, i literally loved it. There’s definitely a lot more to learn and I will start routing tomorrow building the final pcb and then we start CADing.

I am working on creating my own macropad usking Kicad and Onshape

I used the guide to work on creating my first ever hardware project, used Kicad for the schematics and pcb creation, installed the libraries added components routed and connected those, then on onshape worked on designing the case for our micropad with reference to hackpad guide

will be adding my own touch in the next devlog

Added on new features for my F1OS, faced challenges mainly related to time management to get the work done due to schools starting. Other than that faced a lot of bugs in making the F1 wiki but the process was definitely fun.

When your testing or using this, just have F-un (pun intended - un means one in french)

Added the last set of features and fixed some other bugs:

  1. NEW wiki app that contains information about all your favourite drivers and teams

  2. new settings app to mimic controls like a F1 car (it’s more like a place holder)

  3. the apps are now draggable on the home screen

changed a bit of app icons, updated the F1 calendar with winners and other changes that took place

Calculator app addition

Added a new f1-themed calculator application for our web based operating system, includes an easter egg where entering the driver’s number shows its name later…

I have made a WebOS themed on Formula 1. The idea was to connect to engineering marvels together, the computer and the F1 car, and so giving the WebOS a f1 touch was extremely fun. I had fun working on this and yeah added different features related to f1, more coming soon in the next ship

We are back people!

With more refinements and bug fixes this time, we have a proper driver lineup, all the 11 constructor teams to choose from, easter eggs and much more!

I dont know how to describe it!

just try it out people, and share more ideas of what more features we can add

After landing page shared in devlog 1,

completed creating my own WebOS related to formula 1, added timings, 3 applications related to f1 for now, one shows information about the constructor’s team you have selected, the other is telemetry info with lap times of different drivers and the 3rd one is the f1 calendar ofc.

check it out and tell me whats your favourite f1 team

Working on creating the ultimate F1 Operating System!

Imagine turning ur laptop into the F1 car and F1-like theme with all the telemetry data, fast rebooting and the F1 styled apps.

Worked on the landing page for the F1 app, current v1-2, will need more refinement as and when continued.

Pls share feedback and I hope yall like it!
