Devlog 1: For the past few days I have been working on some decoration for the lamp in my room. It is actually meant to be a outside lamp, but because I didn’t read the description I installed it in my bedroom 😓… So I decided to make some decoration for it😄! Because it has a cylinder shape I want to make it a handle of a sci fi style shield😎. It will be grabbed by a hand, that comes out of the wall😮!!! I have almost finished the hand. But because it has been some time since I used Blender, it took a lot of time😭

Well uh, last time i thought I had finished my PCB, but I made some small changes and have finished my PCB case. It took me a lot of time to find and apply the 3d models of components from the PCB, but here it is. I made my case in FreeCAD because I am pretty familiar with the software. Sadly my laptop decided to give up twice during the progress and I had to reset it. But luckily I didn’t lost much. The only weird thing is that I can’t find the mounting hole that is visible in the PCB-editor in the schematic. I guess I’ll look into it later.

I finished my PCB design and spent a lot of time working on the wiring, which was quite challenging. (Had to watch several tutorials and asked some stuff in slack.) I decided not to use all the features of the rotary encoder because the XIAO does not have enough available pins. So, I chose to only use the rotation function of the encoder. I also added several LEDs to the design.

I just made a start today and am pretty proud of my small start. Drawing pcb’s is quite fun, but setting up hackatime and downloading KiCad did took a lot of time. I almost gave up because my laptop started doing strange and didn’t had enough storage to download the installer for KiCad T_T. But after lots of effort I did manage to set everything up (hopefully correct)…
After setting up I drew some stuff in the sketch editor and imported it in the PCB editor. I ran into some problems but I have trust that I’ll be able to fix it next time. Also I added 4 switches to my sketch but I can’t find them in the pcb editor… This is though my first time making a pcb. So I think it is probably normal. :)
