I made the CAD for the project. I made the whole board in Fusion 360, and after designed a case around everything. The case turned out good I think, I went with a pretty open design, with the buttons being easily accessible for ease of use. The only thing I couldn’t figure out is how to mount the top and bottom, while making it removable, since the walls are thin, but I migth make them a bit bigger to fit a screw. I also didn’t do the port openings, but those should be quick.
I did the PCB for the project. I found a solution to the layout, by making the battery sit under the PCB, not in line with it. I also did the traces, but that was pretty straigthforward. I added a silkscreen with what goes where, and a little decoration.
I worked on assigning footprints, and started thinking about the layout. It seems hard to make the layout be as compact as I want it to, but I have a few ideas. I didn’t work on this for a long time, since I had quite a lot of personal stuff happening, but I’m hoping to finish this by the oct 31st deadlline. I didn’t have too much time today, but Im pllanning to continue tomorrow
I made the schematic. It took me quite a bit of time, but I did get there in the end, and actually most of the time spent was just market research, trying to find the products I could use, especially a charging circuit. I always hated adding batteries because they needed charging and step up circuits, but now with this one I can hopefully work out everything. Also a bit more about the project, this will be a (hopefully) small and compact MP3 player using a DFplayer module, a XIAO-RP2040 MCU 3 buttons for next, previous, and play/pause, and a 128x32 I2C Oled display for displaying the current song.
