What did I make?
I built ChessHub, an interactive chess learning platform that combines multiple chess tools into one application. It includes features like a Board Visualizer, Chess Game Review, Chess Quiz, Endgame Puzzles, Guess The Elo, Learn Endgames, Opening Explorer, and Play Against AI. The goal of ChessHub is to make learning chess more interactive by helping players understand the ideas behind moves, improve their decision making, and explore different parts of the game.
What was challenging?
The most challenging part of creating ChessHub was combining many different chess systems into one working platform. I had to learn how to handle PGN files, create interactive chessboards, process chess positions, build analysis features, and solve many deployment issues. One of the biggest challenges was making the project reliable on Streamlit Cloud while dealing with chess engine limitations, APIs, and technical bugs. This was also the first time I ever used GitHub EVER!
What am I proud of?
I am most proud that ChessHub evolved from a simple opening recommendation project into a complete chess learning platform. I am proud of creating multiple interactive features, solving difficult technical problems, and building something that helps players learn chess concepts instead of just memorizing moves. Seeing all the different systems work together into one application has been the most rewarding part of the project. I am really happy that I was able to overcome the challenges and work through everything, even if it broke me :D.
What should people know so they can test my project?
People testing ChessHub should explore each feature because every section focuses on a different part of chess improvement. They can try exploring openings, reviewing their own PGN games, solving endgame challenges, testing their chess knowledge, and playing around with the different interactive tools. The app may take a few seconds to load some features, but users should experiment with different pages and games to see the full experience of ChessHub.
