Added custom macros changeable via serial and saved on the ESP32 via Preferences, I also added Upload, Load and Delete bmp files to show on the E-Ink display. The MacroPad will be controlled via a web page with WebSerial or an app easily.
The macros include :

  • Key combinations
  • Text enter
  • wait time between actions
  • Theoretically infinite number of actions

I finished the design for the key and i have done some adjustments (shift key for scale). I now need to figure out to extend the FPC connector to make it work.

After lots of troubleshooting, I finally got the screen to work w/ full and partial refresh with GxEPD2! I used the code from GooDisplay as a base with the code from another display to make this one working with GxEPD2

Today I started working with the 0.97 inch display from Goodisplay (GDEM0097T61). This display is not supported by GxEPD2 so I decided to add support for it myself. I took the code from the GDEM0213B74 display as a base because it uses the same controller but I didn’t manage to make it work despite my efforts. Then I decided to try the software given by the manufacturer which did not work either. I concluded that my e-ink display must be the problem so I returned it and I will need to wait another two weeks to get the new one 😑

I finally finished the PCB and I will now continue the case in 3d and images for the project. I had a hard time routing the 3v3 line because I did it last but I managed to do all the traces on 2 layers

I started doing some research on a e-paper display for the keys of the macropad and landed on the 0.97 inch Small E ink Screen from GooDisplay which I will be using. I started modeling the keys around the screen and started working on the PCB : I traced all the connections for the displays and power management. I will also be using a 74HC154 to be able to select one display at a time to change its image. This project will work with an esp32-s3 with flash memory to remember each key and image and I am planning to include a rotary encoder to switch between layers for the keys
