Devlog
A very long time no see.
I have made a lot of progress on adding an SQL database.
Testing on MySQL
The backup server provider gives me access to one.
SQL changes
A lot of BIG changes.
The reason why I haven’t posted for so long is that I didn’t want to post about something that doesn’t work.
- Created new classes to intercept data changes, both in case of direct dict changes and when going through the SQL model library. (I didn’t change much in the code, just imported it under the same name as the old database.) And it works!
- At the start, only reading data worked, but now it can send data back to the database.
- Added a regen function to make sure built-in API keys are always the same after a restart.
- Fixed the car creation function (but when I started storing the additional data in SQL, it broke AGAIN).
- Added configuration attributes. At first, just the database type, but then all the information needed to connect to a MySQL database.
- Fixed the scenario
readconfig(wasn’t it updated in the past?).
A really small number of things I added?
Yes, but the amount of debugging and changing built-in functions in classes took me so long. (Could be because of school and not having time to do everything in one sitting.)
But I learned how to make a dummy dict with a class, as I called it in the commit: proxy.
Problems
- The SQL database can’t create new cars.
- Need to check all internal endpoints to make sure they work.
- Still haven’t merged the
DEVbranch (TODO). - All information is stored in one column as JSON. It works, buuuut I don’t like it that way.
- Need to clean up the proxy classes.
- updating docs
What failed this time?
The second photo attached shows it. Have a look before reading more.
_contains__
If you see it, congrats! But if you have a screen full of code, it’s harder to spot.
It should be __contains__, and I spent, I think, two days debugging why all in statements just didn’t work.
I was so happy when I finally found it!
XAMPP and Apple Silicon
The manager app doesn’t open after a restart, so after consulting Google and AI, I found a command that I use:
sudo /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/xampp start xampp
If someone is asking why I didn’t use the server provided one it just wasn’t practical for now.
