Ignite your universe!
Ignite your universe!
and that’s a wrap on the first release of astrospark!
what started as a simple idea to make browser new tabs more interesting has finally turned into a proper space-themed dashboard.
the first release is officially done and published!
there’s still a lot i’d love to add and improve, but getting this first version out feels pretty great.
also, a small transparency note:
ai declaration: the original project was built by me. i later used ai tools to help enhance, refine and improve parts of my code and development process. the original concept and initial implementation were my own.
this is just the beginning. more updates, features and cosmic experiments coming soon.

devlog #5 - making astrospark productive
sooo, astrospark is slowly turning into more than just a pretty space-themed new tab.
this update was all about productivity!
added a task manager where you can add, complete and delete tasks, quick notes that save automatically, and a focus timer to help with work sessions.
also cleaned up a few things around the interface while keeping the cosmic vibe intact.
the idea is simple: open a new tab, get greeted by the universe, and get things done.
what’s next?

devlog #4 — bringing astrospark to life
okay, so i’ve been working on making astrospark feel less like a static webpage and more like an actual little universe.
added a few animations:
also started working on the ambient music system! the controls are now part of the interface, with play/pause, sound selection and volume adjustment.
and here’s the interesting part — i’m actually creating the ambient music myself to match astrospark’s space theme. still working on composing and integrating the tracks, so that’s something to look forward to!
there’s still a lot to do, especially productivity tools and customisation, but astrospark is slowly starting to feel like what i imagined.
one feature at a time :)

devlog #3 — making astrospark actually work
okay, so astrospark isn’t just a pretty space-themed page anymore!
i’ve finally started adding JavaScript, and the first few features are working:
also got the search bar to automatically focus when the page opens, so you can just start typing.
it’s been pretty interesting learning how JavaScript connects everything together. there’s still a lot planned, especially ambient sounds, animations and productivity features.
slowly but surely, we’re getting there :)

devlog #2 — astrospark is starting to take shape
okay, so i’ve finally moved on to CSS, and things are starting to look a little more like what i had imagined.
got the cosmic background, stars, nebulae, a glowing planet with orbital rings, and the glass-style search bar working. it’s still a pretty early prototype, but seeing the HTML structure turn into an actual interface feels great.
i’m still figuring things out as i go, and there’s a LOT left to do — animations, JavaScript, the clock, search functionality, ambient sounds and all the other features.
but hey, one step at a time. :)

devlog #1 — so, i’m building astrospark
okay, so i’ve been wanting to build my own space-themed new tab page, and that’s how astrospark came to be.
the idea is pretty simple: what if opening a new tab felt like stepping into space instead of staring at the same old browser page?
i want to add stars, nebulae, planets, ambient sounds, a clock, custom search engines, and eventually some productivity features too.
right now, i’m starting from scratch with the HTML. i’m taking my time with this one because i don’t just want to make something that looks cool — i actually want to understand how everything works, line by line. CSS and JavaScript are next.
there’s still a LOT to do, but that’s kind of the fun part.
let’s see where this goes :)
