I’ve now defined all of the dimensions for the PCB and have started on the silkscreen art. I want to make the badge fun to wear and recognisable while also having room to display the sponsors, the front side will be dedicated to this with the back side dedicated to how to actually use the badge. Having lots of fun, the creativity is really flowing lol
I have now moved entirely into my own design, it uses the power generated from your phones NFC coil to power and update the E-ink display. As E-ink displays don’t require power to hold an image this negates the need for a battery making the badge much cheaper to produce and infinitely lighter. I’m very happy with my progress so far as this is a completely custom design! Moving onto the PCB design next.
I’m the POC for Haven Nottingham which is being sponsored by JLCPCB. I thought I’d design some interesting badges for the attendees, tbh I don’t really know what I want them to look like at the moment or the features. Am taking inspiration from this badge at the moment though! https://oshwlab.com/notaroomba/dreamcard
