Ship #1 Pending review

Peek Note is an application designed to make capturing quick thoughts and reminders frictionless. Suppose you are doing some work. If you get a small idea or reminder that you need to remember for later, but cannot focus on now, you can use this application to easily write a short note, without worrying about saving it. In traditional notepad applications, one has to open the app, write the note and save it in a specific file location. Note with Peek Note. Here, you can simply move your mouse to the top of your screen or use a simple keyboard shortcut to open the popup, write down your note and move your mouse away from the popup to make the window hide itself. The note gets saved automatically.
You don’t need to worry about note storage as all notes are automatically stored inside the APPDATA folder without requiring human action.
There is a menu to view all written notes. Notes can be edited and deleted, or viewed later.
The time of creation of your notes can also be seen in the history menu.
The main problem being solved is that your flow doesn’t break.
Using this application you get:

  1. Instant access to all your previous notes.
  2. Persistent notes: All your notes are saved automatically.
  3. Built in note editing: Your notes can easily be edited, viewed or deleted as per your convenience.

Peek Note - Devlog 3

I did a lot of work today on the application and finished it.

  • I added an ID and date system for each note. Now the user can see the date the note was created.
  • I added a history menu to view all notes.
  • I added a plus button to make new notes. On clicking the button, the previous note will be saved.
  • I added a save button to save the current note.
  • In the history menu, I added a delete button to delete notes. To prevent accidental deletion, I added a warning popup.
  • I added a label which shows Saved on saving a note.
  • I fixed many bugs.
  • I added a feature in which the program is shown in the task bar while running even when the window is hidden.
  • I added a quit button to close the program.
  • Now the JSON file is store in the APPDATA folder of the user.
  • I created an exe for the app which can be downloaded.

Peek Note - Devlog 2

Today, I made a lot of changes to the program. I added a sliding animation to the window so that it slides in and out while opening and closing. I added a feature for saving new notes in a JSON file, which can be restored later when the program is opened again. I improved the look of the UI by adding a visible border, a heading and changing the background colour. I added a keyboard shortcut to open and close the pop-up, without using a mouse. I also added a label which displays the number of characters in the note.

Peek Note - Devlog 1

Today, I did some planning and created the skeleton of the project. I made a borderless window containing a text field, which shows itself when the cursor reaches the top of the screen and automatically hides when the cursor reaches below the height of the window.
