OrbitalShield: Space Debris Radar Live

OrbitalShield – I am going to build a 2D interactive space debris radar application using Python and VS Code. The app will contain a dark-mode graphical tracking canvas, with a central model for Earth surrounded by neon altitude grid rings mapping out Low Earth Orbit (LEO) and Geostationary Orbit (GEO) zones.

The Problem: The orbital debris dots were only 8 pixels wide, making them moving targets that were too small and frustrating to click accurately with a mouse pointer. —————————————————–The Solution: I refactored the canvas drawing code to double the size of the dots to 16 pixels (x-8 and y-8), expanding the clickable hitbox. I also added cursor=“crosshair” to the canvas to turn the mouse pointer into a tactical targeting reticle. —————————————————–The Result: The radar layout is now much more interactive, and locking onto satellite target data is smooth and easy.
