Dev Log #8

Worked on adding 5 new apps that sync with your progress.

> Evidence Board.

It keeps track of the clues and important information you find while investigating. It also gives you a visual to connect everything together.

Added:

  • Tracks discovered evidence and known facts
  • Shows things like NEXUS .24, the unknown .44, access logs and NEXUS-WATCH
  • Updates as you discover clues
  • Added a graphical view of how the evidence connects
  • Keeps undiscovered information hidden until you find it

> Network Monitor.

  • Shows active connections
  • Shows NEXUS, the router and unknown nodes
  • Tracks inbound and outbound traffic
  • Updates its interpretation as you investigate
  • Starts with normal network activity and becomes more suspicious as you discover things

> Mission Center. (The biggest one)

I wanted it to feel more like an actual investigation instead of just showing a list of missions.

It has 4 sections:

  • Missions
  • Profile
  • Achievements
  • Skills

Missions page.

The Missions page keeps track of the investigation and shows what you’ve discovered, what questions still need answering and what you should investigate next.

It also has the 3 main investigations:

  • 01 WHO IS 192.168.1.44?
  • 02 THE SECOND TRACE
  • 03 THE WATCHER

Then there’s the Profile section which tracks your NEXUS identity, node, clearance and session.

Achievements page.

Achievements also unlock based on progress, and I added a small skill tree showing what you’re learning:

  • Linux
  • Networking
  • Forensics
  • Web Security

> Security Center.

Finally, I added the Security Center.

It gives you a quick overview of the current state of the system, including file integrity, network monitoring, authentication monitoring and the watcher.
