Picoballoon - DEVLOG #5 🎈
Hello!
My progress past 2 - 3 weeks was slower, because of school and lazyness:D
But I want to get this done till the end of the stardance challange. So here is some of the new progress:
1. - Helium tank adapter
I’ve finally bought a helium tank for party balloons. It is circa 250 liters of helium in this small tank. :D It cost me about 25 usd, including shipping.
It is party grade, that means it is about 85% pure.
But it should be enough for this project.
Anyway, back to the adapter.
The nozzle was too short and thick for filling my 32” balloon. I’ve dig around our house a litlle, and found this plastic tube.
The tube was slightly smaller diameter than the nozzle (it’s good to be like that, because you can litlle widen it with some hot screwdriver - it seals better then, atleast acording to my thoughts)
You can see the tank and the adapter on the photos.
2. - Balloon testing
I got my ballons for very cheap from china. I have inflated one about 2 weeks ago, and it’s still looking good to this day! :D Hope all of them are the same quality. U can see the test ballon on the photo too. 📸
3. - Tracker eletronics taping/glueing together
I choose as the final design of the tracker case lighter and simpler solution. I’ve just insolated it with some foam between the eletronics (0.5 cm thick) and glued it together with hot glue. Its isn’t done yet though. I will cover it with some more foam, and mainly with epoxy glue (for water resistance).
Currently the whole tracker weights 27 grams. ⚖️
