I made the colour picker actually work now…. so for some reason this took wayyy longer than it shouldve because the eyedropper API was so annoying to use and I gebuinely felt like trying another approach…. but after making that work, and also making dark mode work (including inverting the extension icon in the header) I also got the recent colour list working and I used the colour conversion logic from Formatly (my previous project) to convert between different formats of colours via I finally got the colour picker working.
