After working on my new website for about three weeks, I’ve finally decided to make a project and a devlog about it. I’ve been rewriting my website (https://circulars.dev) in Svelte for a while now, (I originally started the rewrite about four months ago) but I’ve only recently picked it up again and actually put work into it.

I’ve redesigned how I showcase my projects and socials off on my website, added a cool background (that only uses css gradients), improved the lastfm status to be websocket based and update automatically, rather than only update upon visiting the site.

The site is mostly done, I just need to touch up a few more things and then I need to tackle the issue of automatically building and deploying the site. My previous site used a github action to build and copy the site files over to my own server, but this pipeline fell apart for.. some reason. i don’t know why.

I’m making a new pipeline that will use github webhooks to trigger builds of my website on my own server, avoiding some of the biggest pitfalls associated with github actions, and I’m making it with Rust.

My pipeline will be powered by a little program I’m making called “minibuild”, a lightweight program that accepts webhook pushes, compares the secret token and signature, and then runs a script if they line up. Not only will this be exactly what I need for my site, but I’ll also be able to use it for any other project that requires this sort of setup.

Once minibuild is done, I can finally deploy my new site!!!
