Learning how to make shaders for Minecraft :3

Hey everyone! For the past week I’ve been on and off continuing to develop my shaderpack, “Simply Solid Shaders,” and I’ve recently made 2 hotfixes to fix hand/item and entity lighting in dark situations (and to make the shader not look like you’ve spawned on the fricking sun). But after another few days continuing to refine my shaderpack, I’ve actually got it in a spot where I’m really satisfied with the end result, and I cannot believe how far I’ve come. I took up this project because my Minecraft was stolen 💀, and my friend Shadowtech recommended Hack Craft for a chance to take up mod or shader development with the chance I get Minecraft back, and I’m so grateful that I’ve taken these two weeks off from my music career to do something I’ve always wanted to do. And best of all, my genuine heroes at Modrinth have accepted Simply Solid Shaders and it’s available to the public :D (in fact here’s the link for the shaderpack if you guys are interested :3 { https://modrinth.com/shader/simply-solid-shaders }). I’ll play with this shader on for the rest of my life playing Minecraft (for some simply solid reasons this is a joke 😖) and make new features whenever I get the time, but I wanted to say that I’m really grateful for this opportunity, and I want to tell you guys that making your ideas a reality is a great idea!! Thank you all!! 🖤✨🖤✨

It’s going quite well with the shader! My purpose for this shader is to just be like “plug and play”, and just like perform well, geared towards people who just want something that works and looks better than vanilla, and for that reason I have decided to not add shadows. I do want to add fog and better clouds though, and to make entities not transparent? I don’t know why this is happening…

I’m learning the basics of how gbuffers, composites, and like stuff interact… (I’m not very good yet 😅). However I believe I know how to work with uniforms, so that’s good :3.

Since yesterday I’ve changed my approach to shader development from trying to follow the Iris documentation to using the official Hack Club Lumen guide, but I’ve encountered a lot of issues with gradle and my Java paths. I booted into Windows coming from a solid 2 months of Linux because Mesa drivers compile shaders differently, so I couldn’t really follow tutorials, and I’ve realized how much Windows it actually is.. This is what I’m troubleshooting now :’3

It’s been only less than 5 minutes since I posted this, but I genuinely think switching this project to linux is a far better idea than whatever I’m doing now. So yeah.
