Devlog 03 Tranga Rocket Engine
What I’ve Done So Far
It’s been a while since the last devlog, a lot longer than I have logged due to the fact that I’m still adjusting to using lookout. Until I find a problem with it the main engine assembly design is done, I’m a bit iffy on the space I’ve provided for the igniter and the donut ring designs but I’m going to move onto the next two sections before I destroy myself with perfectionism. The next two segments are the fuel system and the electronics system, the electronics system will probably be the easiest so I’m leaving it to last.
Engine Limitations
The big thing I’ve discovered through more work on the engine is that it’s biggest limitation is going to be the oxidizer. Our maximum burn time is going to be 3 seconds on pressurized air and it’ll have to be attached to the air compressor as well as getting low ISP and thrust. Honestly you could do way better with standard solid propellants or even sugar rockets but both of those are illegal in Ireland so we work with what we have. This engine is going to be incredibly limited but at least it’ll be something I made myself.
