Hi, I am making the Eiffel tower with onshape, this is what it looks like right now! this part was painful but worth it!
Challenges
There was many challenges such as the Corner Column (The green part) This one was very hard, because I couldn’t extrude it to make it filled in so it wasn’t paper thin but it didn’t work so I had to work around it by making a box then extruding it then cutting off the access pieces I didn’t need (such as the pieces that hang out) so I had to make a sketch to outline and cut it the final result looks very clean now!
I also did have troubles on the Decorative Arch (Arch Rib / Spandrel Arch and the yellow one) This was hard because it was such a unique shape that I had to sketch something new for each one then the cutouts didn’t work on each side (It didn’t fit correctly) so I had to make it custom for each one this was one of the longer edits. Then I did have to shrink the Decorative Arch because it didn’t fit correctly (this piece was thin) the pattern was also hard but all I did was did a quick sketch to make it looks like the real thing.
My last thing was the Rivet (The red circle) the rivet mirrored good but it didn’t mirror in the right spot so I had to transform it so it would move then I had to mirror it one the other side, this was the real challenge because it didn’t rotate correct. What I had to do to fix it was easy. All I had to do was make a sketch and make it vertical this way I could make it rotate properly.
Process
What I will do is add the detail first this will make it so when I change it its better to fix all the errors first then later on because you might forget some. I will go layer by layer for detail (fist layer ill try to do as much detail as I can).
What I need to work on
I will also not have the same amount of Rivet that the Eiffel tower has just because the Eiffel tower has about 2.5 million Rivets.
- More Detail
- I will need some work on the truss
- Platforms (1st, 2nd, and 3rd Levels)
- Railings
- Observation Deck
- Tower Shaft
- Broadcast Antenna
- adding more Rivets
Conclusion
I cant wait to show your more on this project I feel really happy on how this turned out and exited to see how it will turn out.

Awesome Project! Keep Up The Good Work
Thank you so much!
Are you planning to 3D print it once you finish designing?
