I set up a work-able rocket model in OpenRocket based on parts I already had from this year’s Space Engineering Club. Namely, I designed around a Cesaroni F70 rocket motor with a P24-2G case and Kraft Paper Tubes of 2.12” OD and 13” length. I came to realize that PETG, while clear, probably won’t survive the ejection charge so until I think of a better recovery solution that maintains stability between 2-2.5cal I will likely end up putting a parachute before the transition from cardboard to petg and add a bulkhead at the bottom of the clear section.

By the way, the project is intended to have a clear section so that an LED section can glow through and show red, white, and blue based on the current rocket stage (burn, ascension, recovery) to celebrate America’s 250th birthday on the 4th of July. Lots of work to do, primarily in editing materials around the motors and parachutes!
