Devlog #3: TBD
What I have so far:
Since the last devlog, I have added the location personalization and reworked the UI to make it more conducive to new additions. The location personalization, which allows users to input their country and have their emissions calculated from its annual average grid carbon density, uses a database from OurWorldInData. Initially I used Papaparse to try to achieve this, but I was using a small csv so it proved easier to parse the data with vanilla js while avoiding the errors from importing Papa. I also created pages for the pop-up: a main screen, settings, and dashboard. I seperated the code into files for each page because it had begun to get really messy. The settings page includes toggles for an always on display and light/dark mode, both of which are a work in progress, and a place to input your country. (It must be noted that this is optional and the default is set to the US.) I spent a lot of time troubleshooting the buttons because they would often stop working while I was editing unrelated code (usually because I messed with their code on accident), but they finally work consistently!
What I Need To Work On
As I mentioned earlier, I am working on personalization settings such as light/dark mode and an always on display rather than just a pop up when you click on the icon. I also am going to add a history function for the dashboard to track your AI usage over time; the goal is for it to display a week’s worth of time.
