IgnitionBench — Devlog 001 Alright everyone — this is devlog 001 of IgnitionBench, an AI-assisted rocket motor design tool that lets anyone, at any skill level, design their first rocket motor. What’s new this cycle:Delta, the AI assistant. Delta walks you step by step through designing your first motor as safely as possible. It needs an Anthropic API key to run — everything else in IgnitionBench works fully offline. The Propellant Engine. A whole section for developing your own propellant. It opens like the projects home — a gallery of saved propellant cards you click into — with four steps: Plan (ingredients), Prepare, Cast, and Characterization. Delta will not walk you through actually mixing propellant — you should always have an expert present and never trust an app for that. Instead there’s a safety checklist and a notepad to mark off your steps.Characterization. Log your own test-firings and it fits the an and n burn-rate values for your batch, then loads them into Plan.AutoCast (Cast step). Tell Delta how you want the rocket to fly and it proposes the best grain geometry to cast — you approve before it’s applied. (Grain shape only; Delta never formulates the propellant.)Ambient pressure + presets. Set where the motor fires — sea level, mile-high, high altitude, or space/vacuum — and watch the same motor’s thrust and Isp change.Resources button on the home screen as a citation source, and a new light mode theme.Maybe coming next: sound effects, and a plugin system so people can build their own plugins for IgnitionBench. AGAIN Delta can not give you instructions on how to prepare your propellant as per safety instructions, IgnitionBench is an app and you should have a professional present when making rocket propellant and should have the required licenses for making it
IGNITIONBENCH DEVLOG 000IgnitionBench is an AI-assisted rocket motor design tool I’m building for hobbyist rocketeers. Right now, if you’re a NAR/TRA hobbyist without an engineering degree, your options are professional tools built for engineers (OpenRocket, BurnSim, RASAero II) or a pile of spreadsheets and manual math. IgnitionBench closes that gap by pairing real rocket science with plain-language guidance and an AI mentor that sits alongside the calculators instead of just spitting out numbers. three main pillars. Propellant– a guided APCP database (KNSB, KNDX, HTPB) with an interactive Kn ratio calculator and plain-language, Nozzle engine — a full de Laval nozzle calculator: throat/exit area, expansion ratio, thrust coefficient (Cf), characteristic velocity (c*), specific impulse (Isp), with a live visual diagram explanations of every parameter, 3D design + simulation — grain geometry modeling (BATES, star, finocyl), animated burn regression, a 1D flight simulator, and export to .ENG/STL for OpenRocket or 3D printing. Ignitionbench is aimed for the hobbyist rocketry group. Github Link
