VibeCheck Devlog #1 đ„
soâŠ
for the last few days iâve been building something called VibeCheck.
the idea is pretty simple:
you paste a prompt.
VibeCheck tears it apart.
then tells you how to make it better.
thatâs it.
but somehow that âsimpleâ idea ended up turning into an entire app đ
the original problem
i kept seeing the same thing over and over.
people would ask an ai for something.
the result would be bad.
then theyâd blame the model.
when half the time the real problem was the prompt.
so i thoughtâŠ
what if there was a tool that could actually analyze prompts and explain whatâs wrong with them?
not just give a score.
actually tell you:
- whatâs missing
- whatâs unclear
- whatâs limiting the output
- how to improve it
and thatâs basically where VibeCheck started.
browser compatibility was a disaster
one thing i realized pretty quicklyâŠ
the whole app depended on chrome extension APIs.
which means outside a chrome extensionâŠ
everything exploded đ
so i built a chrome api polyfill layer.
now VibeCheck can run inside an extension and directly in a browser without completely falling apart.
storage works.
runtime messaging works.
browser preview works.
and the app stops screaming at me every time i open it.
template collection got out of control
this one got a little ridiculous.
templates went from:
15 â 38
thereâs now stuff for:
- ui components
- full applications
- backend systems
- debugging
- ai prompts
- api development
and probably more coming later because apparently i donât know how to stop adding things.
random suffering
also spent way too long fixing bugs that should not have existed.
you know the type:
40 minutes of debugging.
3 line fix.
questioning life choices afterwards.
those.
whatâs next?
right now iâm focusing on making the scoring system smarter and improving the actual prompt analysis.
the ui is pretty trash so id be working on that too
the architecture isnât actively trying to kill me anymore
and VibeCheck is slowly becoming the tool i originally wanted to build
weâll see how long that lasts before i break everything again đ„
Comments 39
vibe on vibecheck ui feels vibe-coded đ„
cs i asked claude to polish it đ„ thats why i said the ui is trash and im gonna work on that now đ
do you plan to give an API, im making a Multipurpouse agent, would love this to analyse the prompt.
sure ill do it after its done
please donât use ai to write your devlogs! itâs disrespectful to people reading them and against the spirit of stardance and hack club. cool project and excited to see where you take it!!!
@zach i didnt used ai to write the devlog vro i gave ai the devlog i made and asked to make it into markdown and its not against the spirit of stardance and idk how its disrespectful gng đ imagine improving the devlog in md so that others can have better and clean reading exp and then hearing that its disrespectfulâŠ. and in this time if ur still doing all of the work manually when ai can save your time then idk what to say lol
just write the full devlog yourself! you got this! weâd rather read something imperfect written by a human than something written by ai
crazy hate on ai đ⊠ill still make my work faster with ai when it can help đ„
btw thats the founder of hackclub
@subhansh cant the model itself verify your prompt and give you a nice prompt, cause most popular models do that, you can just ask the AI model itself give me a better prompt than this to solve this problem, and it gives you a better prompt
@yagnatriumph it can but it doesnt gives the right prompt engineer level prompt everytime but i have added some constraints and parameters so that it gives u good prompt everytime and the whole point is to same time and credits of ur gud model cause if ur working with frontier models then they take a decent amount of token for the output
@subhansh bro really tryina argue wit de founder for his vide code bogus đ its not too late to actually learn how to code đ„
@Cassetu arguing with the founder is wrong ? and i alr know how to code and vibe-check isnt vibe coded and yea frontend needs improvement and stardance allows 30 percent ai use and for the proof of work u can check my other projects ^-^
crazy how this comment turned out to be an AI hating comment section
@subhansh github donât lie:
https://github.com/subhansh-dev/vibe-check/commit/369eaec474da93b50985f4b99b05157dfc3d2d8d
Problem 1: Comments and obvious ai everywhere
Problem 2: âClaude.mdâ Claude TOS require that you be 18 or above, but stardance requires you be 18 below, see the issue?
If ya wanna use ai, go ahead, but you canât be calling it your own work. >:(
@Cassetu im gonna turn 18 in 5 months so its oka to use claude >:( and i alr replied to ur comment in the other devlog explaining those comments
@subhansh Using AI to add some hashtags and dashes doesnât seem disrespectful to me. I see where youâre coming from, especially when my formally-written devlogs look like AI to othersđ
yo I spent like at least 2-3 hours debugging and coded this entire solution and then found out later that day that the problem was a one-word fix (adding âstaticâ) so I definitely relate to that part XD cool project
so its just an llm wrapper?
one prompt and its over vro đ„
@THEbluefirestudios yes its an llm wrapper which is useful ^-^ (crazy tho a llm wrapper has more likes and followers than ur ascii camera lol) and whats over in one prompt cro đ„â
yo zach actually commented thats crazy w zach
i am making much more than just an ASCII camera, see project desc for hypertools, or that one devlog with list of features, and if that one prompt leaks, a person with reasonable iq could just give it to claude and aks like that.
guys yâall should chill criticizing the use of ai is a fair point but you should respond fairly donât just go after someone elseâs project theyre working hard on
@THEbluefirestudios yea ofc a person with reasonable iq would def waste his claude usage for writing prompt đâ whts this reasonable iq vro 40 ? 50 ? đ„
@domst13 yess ^-^
or like gemini idk
i stand with @subhansh â
whats wrong with asking ai to make it into markdown? I mean its better than reading it without markdown. Of course who am I to say anything. And @Cassetu genuinely has nothing better to do other than go to other projects and start stating the obvious? But @subansh pls stop vibecoding it ALL 30 percent is fine.
@polo because some people genuinely canât see the difference between human and ai. I am simply stating the obvious, this is true, its just to bring more attention to that fact before somebody thinks about praising it with the idea of it being entirely human work.
@Cassetu I understand that but let them praise u jealous or smthn? Plus ai is the new direction of coding đ€·ââïž
@polo regardless of your opinion on ai in the coding field, the purpose is to inform, not out of jealousy. Think of it as fact checking, if i see faulty information (to any extent of small or large caliber) i would call it out, either through encouraging others to delve before coming to conclusions or if i feel confident in my conclusion; I would just simply poke some holes (in the form of questions, not direct accusations; the last thing i want to do is to call someones honest hard work ai because they simply did one thing or another). anyways this is prob my last message here. (also for subhansh, if ur turning 18 in 5 months, it doesnât mean you can buy a gun; federal law states that you have to be at least 18 to buy long arms. Likewise applies to claude even if its not the same gravitas of an action)
@Cassetu I understand. As for the gun thing that was hella random everyone underage uses claude.
Guys Whoâs AI and why are they getting flamed?
Hey everyone! AI is a subjective matter, but in Stardance, AI is allowed as long as ~60-66% of the project is made by the original creator, without the assistance of AI. Nobody may know what actually went on behind the scenes, but @subhansh described that they used AI in things like converting to MarkDown(light or automated work), which by consideration could fit the criteria. Everyone please be respectful of each other. This is an integrity matter which can not be changed by arguing.
I love this project but please tell me how you make these sections because my devlogs are so short because I donât know how to structure them like this đ
i could swear iâve seen an ad about this on yt
yo i kinnda like the idea but i would love if u made it a low memory extension
nvm i just saw u finished the project
