tiny devlog (mostly a rant)

I HATE WOKWI idk if im doing this wrong but i decided to simulate my pcbs before i physically create them. i did my reseach and wokwi came up. so i tried it today. first off all, the part lib is SO SMALL. no eeprom no capacitors(????) I was able to get the code for the eeprom online, and kinda ignore the capacitor. then i found myself doing the routing allll over again. if only there was a software that would let me upload my kicad files and simulate from there. ill prob actually do my firmware later today, id be disappointed in my self if i procrasinated further.

ps, i imported a bread board to test before i did my actual led strip, didnt go well

This is my shot at Human Computer Lab’s ML challenge! It’s a compare and contrast between two data classification methods, a direct classifier and a small language model. Basically, both models read sensor data from UCI’s Human Activity Recognition Using Smartphones dataset, and learn to classify actions from the data (walking, standing, sitting, etc). The language model has to create embeddings directly from data, not turn it to language first. Then, we compare the macro-F1 scores of the direct classifier, the language model, and a trick test for the language model, purposefully switching embeddings so that way you know that the model is reliant on the embeddings only.

VERY IMPORTANT!!!! The link to try this project is fake. You have to clone the project and run it in your terminal! Instructions are on the readme!!

Whoaaa Ive been MIA for a hawt minute lol. Anyway surprise! Brand new project popped out of nowhere! For context, I applied to an internship which had an optional project/challenge to do. Basically, I had to test a new form of data processing. I had to classify sensor data data into categories using a small language model rather than a traditional direct classifier. So thats what I did. I compared and contrasted the two methods in terms of macro F1 score, runtime, etc. Everything is kinda one fall swoop, heres the completed project lol.

Hello and welcome to devlog #2 of the PCB record player!! Say hello to big mama player PCB. It’s got a raspberry pi pico, a ws2812 led light strip, and some holes for the pogo pin connector which I will buy off of amazon. I’m going to try to simulate all of the designs virutually through tinkercad or smth cuz im lazy lol, and I expect this to be a highly iyerative process, and I don’t want my room full of faulty pcbs lol. but yeah heres my ugly pcb. Ik the pico is in a weird spot, i hope that doesnt cause too many problems, but if it does I’ll expect it to be an easy fix. Next up, simulating and firmware!

Hello! This is the first devlog for the lovely 🌌🌟PCB Record Player🌟🌌 It’s going to be a structure where you can connect a few different “record” PCBs, which consist of a EEPROM to program what will be played , and pads that connect to the “player” PCB, which will consist of a pogo pin connector, which will communicate with the EEPROM via I2C, have an RP2040 “brain,” and most importantly, play the music/LED light patterns. I started this project before I knew about Stardance, so “record” PCB #1 was done beforehand. Today, I finished routing it, and copied and changed it slightly to make “record” PCB #2. After a ton of angry DRCs, file location problems, and messy wiring, I now have 2 ready to print record PCBs!! 🎉🎉 I don’t know if I will order them now or later lol. But they’re ready! Coming next, making big mama “player” pcb. well see how that goes lol. This was supposed to be the easy part, and we alr had a mountain of problems. Anyway, heres “record” 2! Record 1s wiring is very ugly, lowk looks like camo pattern??? but yeah my lil pcbs so cuteeee
