This is my initial work session for a device I am working on. It intends to detect approaching cars on a pedestrian crosswalk using a CV camera and alert the pedestrian(s) that cars are approaching, potentially preventing a collision. Today, I worked on designing the initial CAD model to be mounted on an American road signage post. I added the camera bracket, as well as the entire housing. I will definitely print this when I get the chance, but I do expect to make multiple versions of the casing to ensure the camera is positioned at the right angle and all installed hardware can be accounted for. I plan to work on the main software for this device once I do receive the parts, but I am working on training a webcam to detect these vehicle scenarios by using autonomous vehicle databases.
