devLog#6: IM DONE. I finally finished that annoying pcb and wired everything up. (Im new to pretty much everything except Onshape). I had to completely overhaul the onshape and schematic design multiple times due to unprecedented pcb size. But in the end, despite not knowing blue from red pcb lines, I made it. I will now be updating my ReadMe and submitting this!

DEVLOG #4: I lied, I did in fact not finish the case. Now I have. added some color, some design on the sides, and I also realized that the rotary encoder probably needed to be on the same level as the other buttons,

DevLog #5: PCB + schematic. After finishing the casing, I started to work on the schematic and pcb. I had a lot of trouble initially, but it started to get better after I reviewed other people’s schematics and see what they did that I could use in my own design.

devlog #2: finishing the casing. I finished my casing in onshape by building the finished 3D model. I plan to now figure out how QMK firmware works and begin on the pcb next. I am not having many problems because I have been using onshape for over a year now, it was taught at my school.

devlog #1: Build 3D casing. I built the simple casing for the macropad, just to get the initial measurements for everything that will happen later, like the customization and internal parts.

Ship

Ship #1: I made a simple and professional portfolio for myself in order to display my skills and projects, called rekker. It includes an intro, about me, skills section, project section, contact info, and a nav bar at the top. The backgrounds of each section are formatted, for example the projects section has an interactive dot grid, the about me has a blurred shapes background, and the skills has a shifting gradient background. The nav bar has tabs to the right that will auto scroll to the section clicked, and the projects tab has a horizontal scroll bar for when I add more projects that I've made. I am really proud of the whole thing, but if I had to choose one thing that I'm most proud of, it would be the dot grid. It took a long time to build and format to only one section, and even longer to debug.

Devlog# 2: I fixed up the little things and polished the UI. I made the words on the upper right of the nav bar links so that you can click them and be scrolled to their respective sections. I also added an Onshape modeling card to the projects section. I added styling to each section, with a blurred moving shapes background to the about me, a gradient to the contact/links section, and a different, moving/rotating gradient to the skills section. I am going to ship this.

DevLog #1: I just started to buil my personal website/portfolio, rekker. Today I made an outline for future improvement, creating all of the sections like the about me, skills, projects, my github, and my LinkedIn. I messed around with some styling and JavaScript in order to “fine-tune” the Things I’ve Built page, which now includes an interactive dot grid, animated project tabs, and the capacity for a horizontal scroll option when there are too many tabs to fit on screen at one. Most of this was pretty difficult for me, which is why it took over 3 hours, especially containing the dot grid, mouse positioning, and issues with disappearing borders. But I managed to debug anf fix most of everything.

Ship #2. I initially made a basic working webOS using script, html, and css. I got feedback from the hackclub group pretty quickly, but I had to take a break to attend some summer programs and sports camps. After getting back from that, I went right back to work. I went and added: resizeable windows, a wallpaper changer, a starting splash screen, a simple little game, draggable icons, a black hole that sucks up any window near it and deletes it and changed up some of the styling. As I said in my last DevLog (number 4), I did encounter a lot of difficulty fixing up nimOS to accomidate these changes, as the icons started to jump around, the splash screen layering didn’t really work at first (neither did the black hole). Lastly, I want to thank whoever is reviewing this and whoever reviewed my last ship, because their advice was really helpful in providing a direction for me to advance next in my project, and inspired me to learn and add more onto nimOS. (P.S. if you don't see it at first, the black hole is in the bottom left corner of the screen. Also, the game window is resizebale, and if you want a bigger play area you can just make the window bigger.)

DevLog #4, I had shipped the project and gotten back some great advice about resizing the windows and adding more interesting features into my webOS. So I went to work and added: Resizeable windows, a wallpaper changer, a starting splash screen, a simple little game, draggable icons, a black hole that sucks up any window near it and deletes it and changed up some of the styling. I did encounter a lot of difficulty fixing up nimOS to accomidate these changes, as the icons started to jump around, the splash screen layering didn’t really work at first (neither did the black hole), and it always seemed that when I did in fact finish adding a new feature, I had to spend double the time creating it on debugging it in order to get it to actually work. But I persevered and finally finished. I will be shipping it as soon as possible after this publication.

I made a basic working webOS using script, html, and css. I am pretty proud of myself because this is my first coding project ever, so everything was pretty challenging. I would also like to say thank you to the people at Hackclub and their sponsors for making this all possible.
For my project, the whole thing is fairly easy to navigate. The red buttons on the top right of each window close them, and the apps reopen them. To reopen the starter window, simply click the nimOS button in the margin at the top left of the screen.
Once again, thank you!

DevLog#3, leaned into a different and more contrasting style for the CSS. In addition, I added a calculator app that is fully functioning. Now that all of the code is getting longer it becomes way harder for me to debug properly and quickly, but I find it a lot easier to try and focus specifically on the changes that you made before something went wrong, that way I can go back and see what exactly I coded that might cause an issue to arise. I think this will be my last devlog for this project, and I am going to move into the next part, webOS 2. There I will finish all of the formatting and add a couple more unique apps.

DevLog#2, still struggling with code in general, but I managed to add my first app and its own clickable icon, a basic notebook that can save what is written. It was difficult trying to figure out how to make the text box and the draggable window feature work in conjuction with the close button, but I managed alright. I am thinking of adding a simple calculate next. Please let me know what I should add to it or fix, thank you!

DevLog #1, finished the basics of my WebOS system, nimOS. It’s my first coding project so it took a bit of time to figure everything out and style it how I wanted, but I ended up finishing the clock and date, some stylization, a background image and a regular one, and the ability to drag the window. Looking foward to working on the ability to close out or minimize the windows next, followed with some more stylization with icons and buttons.
