Overhauled the Add window + started work on the expandible system!

Devlog #5 for PC Parts Lister
This is a change I’ve long anticipated and feared, but it should elevate the app by entire levels higher.

Now what is the Expandible system?

Up until now you could only use pre-specified, hardcoded parameters with very little flexibility to it. The expandible system aims to completely overhaul the way information is handled in the app, which will allow for custom parameters, parameter options, etc. etc. in the future. The biggest issue with that is the transfer from the current system. As of now I had to purposely break big chunks of the app for the sake of testing the basics and I will have to rebuild it back up, just with the expandible system.

Overhaul of the Add window

Since I’ve started the expandible system, the Add window, as one of the most outdated (both technically and visually) had to go first. Also this was due to me needing a way to add in components using the new system outside having to hard-code each tester. I think it is decent, but it is not finished yet, keep that in mind! A majority of the windows overhaul was technical, but I made sure to use the way more recent UI style from Detail and Edit windows that got updated recently to improve the visuals atleast a bit.

I think there’s not all that much more I can specify as of right now, but when the system is done I’ll be sure to write some more about it, soo cya for now!

Seeing this project for the first time?

This project is a native windows app written in XAML and C#. It aims to make a software that would allow you to note down any pc components you might have lying around (which I doubt are too many people.. xd). The main reason why I am making it is 1) To make this app, as I would personally appreciate something like this and 2) To learn XAML and practice C#. This is my biggest project and I hope that it will help atleast someone one day. If you find this project cool be sure to stick around and hit the follow, thx!
