Orbit AI

Orbit is a personal AI assistant built around an animated black hole that reacts to your cursor, voice, and its activity. Its minimal interface brings together text and voice conversations, current actions, scheduled tasks, past chats, and a workspace for uploaded files.
The desktop app uses Groq’s GPT-OSS model for intelligence and local Kokoro speech to respond aloud. With permission, Orbit can open apps and interact with supported controls—searching Spotify, entering text, and carrying out computer tasks. It’s designed to feel like a living presence on your desktop while keeping your work organized in one place.

Orbit started with a question:

what if a personal AI assistant felt like something alive on your desktop?

Over 10 hours, I worked on turning an animated black hole into an assistant I could actually talk to. I connected voice and text chat, added local speech, and built out saved conversations, file uploads, and scheduled tasks.

Then came the frustrating part: getting it to use apps. Opening Spotify was easy. Getting it to play the right playlist instead of resuming an old song took more work. Groq’s free limits also forced me to rethink how much information Orbit sent with every action, moving simple commands entirely onto the computer.

By the end, Orbit had Mac and Windows installers, and that black hole had started doing more than looking cool.

Also I am not fully sure if I am going to give this out to people but if you are interested just comment on this devlog
