This is my very own OS that can be run in the web!

Ship #1 Pending review

What did you make?

I made OGGY-OS 2.0, a simple web-based OS prototype using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The idea was to like a desktop operating system, with a dock, draggable windows, apps, a terminal, notes, calculator, settings and a small data panel.

It runs in the browser, so you don’t need to install an actual operating system. and there is an Oggy Moshi game inside it.

What was challenging?

The biggest challenge was learn how to connect everything together. and making a button but making different apps is a different story.

I had to learn about JavaScript events, DOM manipulation , CSS layouts, draggable windows and how to handle data between different parts of the project. Sometimes I get the concept but struggle to implement it properly, so I went back to tutorials, read my book and tried again.

For me, the challenge is not just writing code. It was understanding what I am writing and figure out how to make the different parts work together.

What are you proud of?

I’m proud that I took the time to learn things and implement then myself instead of just trying to get a finished project from somewhere. I used tutorials, documentation and a book to learn, then applied those concepts to my own project.

I’m especially proud of the OS interface, the dock, the window system and the small apps working together in one browser-based environment. It may not be a real operating system, and it is still a prototype, but represents what I learn and built during this project.

What should people know before testing it?

OGGY-OS is a lightweight, browser-based prototype, not a replacement for Windows, Linux or macOS.
Some features need an internet connection like when you first use The browser and game apps also depend on external websites, and their availability may vary.

For the best experience, open the project in a modern desktop browser. Try the help command in the terminal to see the available commands. You can also experiment with creating notes, saving data .

I also want people to know that this is an experimental project. It isn’t intended to be a secure operating system, So don’t use it to store sensitive information.
