Devlog 2: NeptuneOS base
A floating frosted-glass dock at the bottom, split into two pills: a “Neptune” start button and an empty apps bar where my app icons will go
A clock widget in the top right showing the time and full date (like “Saturday, October 17”), updated every second
What went wrong
After I moved the clock out of the taskbar, it disappeared. The old script.js was still looking for an element with the id clock, which no longer existed, so the script errored out and nothing after that line ran. Once I updated the script to target the new time and date elements and did a hard refresh, it worked.
Next up
Add app buttons to the apps pill that open windows
Make the look more my own (colors, fonts, window style)
Add a feature the guide doesn’t have
Devlog 1: Draggable windows!
Started my WebOS today. I set up the project in VS Code with HTML, CSS, and JS. You can drag them around by the title bar.
The first bug I hit was that the windows were stretching way too tall, which I fixed by setting height: auto and a min-height in the CSS.
Next up: a taskbar with a clock and desktop icons that open windows.
