a stardance themed, text-based incremental game, about getting stardust, buying upgrades, and numbers go up!!

Ship #1 Pending review

Stardust Incremental

A stardance themed, clicker-incremental game!

FEATURES:

  1. 4 first layer upgades.
  2. 5 prestige layer upgrades

FRICTION
unfortunately for now, I couldn’t figure out the save system, and couldn’t figure out the automation system, due to me being new to Javascript. while playing PLEASE do NOT reload your page. all your progress will be gone. im sorry in advance.

What I learned
I learned alot about JS, during the making of this project. I also got more and more interested in game developement, and learning what I don’t know, to accomplish what im trying to build. Hey funfact: I got so into making this that I even got a dream where i was just coding coding coding.

PS: for project reviewers, since this game is a hell of a clicker, press the rocket ship, and then hold enter key, it’ll generate points faster…altho this is cheating(because ur supposed to click..legally) but ill let it slide to not waste my reviewers time and energy.

final devlog

glad I kept the streak of “devlogs keep getting bigger and bigger!

Finally, after a long haul, my first incremental game is finally complete. theres alot of things i could have added, such as an automation system, and most importantly a saving system, but i really couldn’t.(trust me i tried).
so far, with just one prestige layer…Id say i did a good job. CSS sure did take a lot of time, which IS what i did in the majority of this last few hours.

anyways the last image is whats inside the small button in the second pic.

FOURTH DEVLOG

wow the time keeps getting larger in each devlog!

Changes:

(first screenshot at 50percent zoom btw)
(second one is a snippet)

  1. Total Prestige counter: Counts total prestiges done
  2. Super Stars(pls dont copywrite strike me): a ** prestige currency**, gained everytime you prestige, used to buy prestige upgrades
  3. the word “upgrades” in all capitals and an exclamation mark, right under Super Stars counter…thingy…
  4. FIVE prestige upgrades, out of which THREE have been set and are working as intended

Working on

the last 2 prestige upgrades,
a way to add a “,” to seperate units, hundred, thousands
a whole lot other things(surprise surprise)

yap(can skip)

im so happy with what ive done so far, i think ive unlocked a new hobby!: staring at code trying to figure out what to do next.
I do want to spend some dedicated time stylizing the game, since…currently its not so eye catchy, and Ive had a lot of reviews on other projects about people saying to make presentation better using smth called ReactJS nodeJS, which ill have to learn… but WHO HAS TIME FOR THAT? I bet i can make something prettier without that…right?

Third Devlog!

wow first time going 2h+ before doing a devlog

Changes:

  • added CSS; Stardance-like background color, Ship-project Rocket ship(for the click to get stardust button), other visible changes
  • using JavaScript to control CSS properties, to slowly reveal certain upgrades as you progress through the game.

wow CSS takes a lot of time, especially paired with all the testing and decidings

Working on…

Prestige system and Prestige upgrades

!! current version released to github is broken (tons of stardust at start because i was playtesting) but if you are still interested here it is!

Second Devlog!!

2 days since my last devlog, ALREADY??, woah time flies.

Changes!

THREE NEW UPGRADES.

  • Buy Helpers, the first one being yourself(help yourself…get it?) each helper multiplies Stardust gain by 2x!
  • coffee chug some coffee down, watch your helpers do the same, and experience a further 2x Stardust gain!
  • get Blessed??(stardance reference?) Make the team at Hackclub VERY happy, get a 1.2x multiplier ontop of everything else!

Working on!

  • i want numbers to look more neater, will look into how to get big numbers to get smaller, using scientific notation, along with commas seperating for smaller but bigger numbers (e.g: 1,000,000)
  • a PRESTIGE system, which i gen1ly have no idea how im gonna implement…
  • a bit of CSS: although ive planned no CSS until game almost complete so i dont run into alignment and format kinda issues.

My First Game!!!

I have been an incremental type games fan for a long while, and now I’ve finally decided to make my OWN game.

The idea:

a Stardance Themed text based, browser based incremental game. Since its my first ever incremental game(AND first ever game), i want to keep it simple.

so far, ive made a simple counter 0 stardust that goes up everytime you click upload project button, and a small upgrade system, to get more stardust perclick after reaching the required stardust threshold.

FRICTION??!

I do NOT know how to to Javascript, and its a pretty big long language, I asked for help in a discord server of the popular incremental game website “Galaxy.click” where the OWNER HIMSELF(yhvr) sent me
his tutorial on how to make an incremental game.
heres the link: https://www.reddit.com/r/incremental_games/comments/ahf6nx/how_to_make_an_incremental_game/

Please Read

I read through the tutorial, and made the outline of my own game, I learnt through it how everything works and did my best not to copy it entirely. However im sure the rest of my game is now completely up to me, my knowledge, and my own shenanigans.

Not so important, just some context, can skip

you may be wondering, how did a complete beginner write all that big code in 36minutes and claim he didnt copy? well my Friend, that is because i had to make this project 2 EXTRA TIMES earlier. because in one of them, i cant remember but something went wrong with my page alignment and made me crashout and delete everything, the second time…my hackatime logged my 3 HOURS of work put into this, into the old file that i THOUGHT i deleted. sooo..then i made a third file, and typed my code and everything again.
