Try and get 3 of the same icons in a row to win!
In this latest update, the project took a massive jump as I pushed the boundaries of and unassisted HTML file can actually handle. With the core mechanics stabilized, I brought the game to life with visual feedback and audio feedback. I also aded a little confetti system using dynamically animated elements to give each win a feeling of reward. I also added sound using the web audio AIP to to do it. The hardest part was figuring out how to add sound using the built in web audio API as it is something new to me.
I just finished building all of the core functions in HTML! The point of this is to show me the limits of html and so far I haven’t used anything else. The whole program was made in html. I spent a lot of time testing out grid sizes and different patterns but the most confusing problem was figuring out how to detect when the player had scratched off enough of the grey to trigger the reveal and win checking functions without crashing the whole webpage. One method I used to fix this was to add a percentage threshold. Once the percentage of transparent pixels crosses 50% it clears the rest and runs the win evaluation.
