A.R.E.S (Autonomous Robotic Exploration System) ARES is a long-term robotics research and development project focused on creating a system of autonomous robots capable of exploring environments, learning from their surroundings and previous failures, adapting their behavior, and collecting useful scientific and environmental data. The current ARES development begins with an ESP32-based interface platform, providing a foundation for hardware control, sensors, wireless communication, and a custom user interface. The system is designed to be expandable over time, eventually integrating more capable computing platforms such as a Raspberry Pi for advanced processing, computer vision, AI/ML, and higher-level autonomy. Core vision: Autonomous robotic systems, Learning and adaptation, Environmental and planetary exploration, Scientific data collection, Learning from failures and previous experiences, Modular and expandable architecture.

A.R.E.S (Autonomous Robotic Exploration System)

ARES is a long-term robotics research and development project focused on creating a system of autonomous robots capable of exploring environments, learning from their surroundings and previous failures, adapting their behavior, and collecting useful scientific and environmental data.

Core vision:

  • Autonomous robotic systems
  • Learning and adaptation
  • Environmental and planetary exploration
  • Scientific data collection
  • Learning from failures and previous experiences
  • Modular and expandable architecture

Current development stage:
Building the ARES interface and hardware foundation on an ESP32, including a 128×64 OLED display, capacitive touch controls, IR remote input, Wi-Fi connectivity, and a custom ARES GUI.

Completed:

  • Added startup screen with A.R.E.S logo.
  • Added home, menu, settings, WiFi screen.
  • Working WiFi Connection.

How To Use:

  • Touch Pad:
    1 -> Left
    2 -> Right
    3 -> Select
    4 -> Back

  • IR Remote:
    Number keys for number input
    Ok button for enter

ARES is not a single robot. It is the overall system and architecture that can coordinate and support a future family of autonomous robotic platforms.
