Today’s session focused on building out the core schematic for the Apex-1 board in EasyEDA. The following functional blocks were completed:
Selected the main MCU for the Apex-1 design.
Placed it centrally on the schematic as the core component all other sections connect to.
Pin headers on both sides are laid out for the various peripheral connections (power, GPIO, control lines).
Added a decoupling capacitor block near the MCU.
Two capacitor pairs placed to filter noise on the MCU’s power rails and maintain stable operation.
Switches Added three push-button switches (labeled BTN1, BTN2, BTN3).
Each switch is wired as a user input line, pulled to ground/reference as needed.
Micro-USB Section
Added a Micro-USB connector for power input and/or data lines.
Wired the associated support components (pull resistors/connections) for the USB interface.
Added a small LED bank (2 LEDs) under the “LED’s” block —likely for status indication (power/activity)
Added a second, larger LED bank labeled “LED(P)” with 5 LEDs, each with its own current-limiting resistor likely for a different purpose (e.g., pattern/output indicators).
Built the reset circuit block, including a transistor and reset button, feeding into the MCU’s reset pin.
Added a Boot Pins header/jumper block to allow selection of the MCU’s boot mode (e.g., normal boot vs. bootloader/programming mode).
Added a debug header for programming/debugging access to the MCU.
Added two crystal oscillator circuits:
One labeled DIN/DOUT
One labeled DI2N/DO2N (secondary oscillator, possibly for RTC or a second clock domain)
Each includes the crystal and its associated loading capacitors.
Current Status:
All major functional blocks of the schematic are now drafted: power/decoupling, user input (switches), connectivity (USB), visual output (LEDs), reset, boot configuration, debug access, and clock generation (crystals).
