My WebOS (StellarOS)

  • 3 Devlogs
  • 8 Total hours

This is my very own OS that can be run in the web!

Ship #1 Pending review

I made a WebOS! Based on the best movie of all times, Interstellar. Now, it isn’t the most beautiful of them all, and it certainly needs more features, but it gets the job done! I think the most challenging part was debugging after deployment, and formatting the Weather app, that one was… waow. Anyways! Learnt alot! I can say with confidence I could make a basic website with 0% AI! Of course, I mean only the HTML and the CSS, all those Java Scripts still would need a couple Google Searches before being able to work… in any case, fun project!

Finally! I’m done, over, complete! This took so much more than two hours, I don’t know if it’s just because of the limited amount of neurons in my brain or if it’s really more complicated than it looks… but I’m done!

  • First, I added a whole new app, Weather (thanks open-meteo)

  • Second, added a new button to expand the windows! It’s not perfect, and it only goes full screen, it doesn’t change sizes YET

  • Third, added a new entry to the notes app.

  • Fourth, ate some celebration nachos

  • FIfth, used the trust worthy Google AI to make a ReadMe.md file for the Github (sue me, I’m lazy)

  • Sixth, made all windows the same size

And that’s all! This was kinda fun!

Slow and slower:

This session was short, relatively simple and good. I made the notes app and styled it to my liking. I also made the cursor an orange ball that goes big and oranger when it hovers over a clickable object, and small when it clicks anything.

WHO FINISHED THIS IN ONLY TWO HOURS! IT’S A TRICK! A JOKE! THEY’RE LYING!

No rest for the wicked 😭

So, my ten hour portfolio website yielded a total of 30 Stardust, which isn’t too bad, but it definetly isn’t the best, kinda feel like I wasted 10 hours… ANYWAYS, since that didn’t quite work out as expected, I chose to start another project, the WebOS 1 mission, it says it’s only ~2:30 hrs, and it yields 50 Stardust, that’s way more than what I got with 10 hours!…

I see why now, this is DEFINITELY harder than it looks, but game’s game, so… yeah, at least I’m getting hours 😭

Today was simple:

  • Build the welcome window

  • Added the toolbar, made the JavaScript files for the time tracking, window movement and the ability to open and close windows.

  • Moved all my styiling into a CSS file.

Honestly this is kinda good for me, it’s tedious, boring sometimes, but it’s very good. Most, if not all, my projects until now were made with a template, if someone asked me to make an HTML file from scratch four hours (four hours 😭) ago I couldn’t have done it, let alone style it in CSS… so actually learning something is nice, I’ll be back tomorrow.
