WebOS - Project Description

WebOS is a web-based project, which recreates the look and functionality of the desktop-based operating system within a web browser. I made it in order to make a website appear more like a real operating system, not just a webpage.

Main Features:

Desktop: Clean, desktop-like interface, featuring familiar computer icons and windowed applications;

Applications: Various downloadable computer applications;

Taskbar: The familiar taskbar of a computer operating system;

Interactiveness: The web-based computer can actually be used and interacted with;

Responsiveness: The page is responsive and can be adapted to various screen sizes;

Simplicity: Easy and intuitive layout to prevent confusion;

Modern: Modern visual theme to make the computer look realistic and contemporary;

Web-Based: The operating system is run in a browser without requiring any additional installers.

What I did in the project:

The project is built from HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and uses JavaScript to give the page interactivity. HTML and CSS allow me to construct the page interface and build the elements on the web page.

What I Found Challenging:

The only true challenge of this project was to make a functioning website resemble and act like a real desktop computer. The tasks involved in making the applications, taskbar, and other elements were complicated and needed extensive coding and scripting in order to achieve the desired effect.

What I am Most Proud Of:

I am proud to have accomplished this project, as it involves a lot of detail and makes the web browser behave like an actual operating system. Instead of building an ordinary webpage, I was able to build something which allows users to feel as if they are using a small computer on their own.

What Users Can Do:

A user can visit the page and interact with the programs, icons, and other elements as if they were using a computer. The project contains multiple applications, which can also be opened in order to test them. This project is focused on the visual and interactive experience, and not on any specific utility.
