A parallel plate drivetrain robot for the FTC Biobuzz season. It is my first drivetrain CAD ever, so I’m trying new things out and hoping to experiment and test in real life with the grant money.

Waiting on a reviewer. We'll let you know as soon as there's a decision.

I had to redesign so much of the turret after testing, i changed the compression from 4 to 3 back to 4mm, and then im now running it 1:1 with the motor. I think this will create a pretty big torque on the bearing stack but we’ll see how it holds up. I also found a new way to constrain the outer bearings which works really well

Hiya, good work on your project! However, a beginner with no knowledge of robots would probably feel quite overwhelmed reading your README, make it more approachable for them! Please read through our guide on writing a good readme: https://codex.hackclub.com/shipping/101/#4-write-a-readmemd-about-your-project

And if others are trying to recreate your project, it'll be difficult without a total listed at the bottom of your BOM and links to buy all the parts needed.

Your repository can also look confusing to others, it is fairly unstructured and I can't find any files describing the actual hardware design of BioBuzz.

Had to do lots of redesigns because Fusion apparently hates me. When I update a really big subassembly, I can’t move it back in the timeline far enough so all the features before that update get broken from the projections and the dimensions and stuff. I’ve had to restart twice now. I’ve gotten much better at creating big subassemblies so that it’s much easier to assemble it big piece by piece, but it is still taking a lot of effort. I’m probably going to pull an all-nighter to finish this up and hopefully have a semi-working model before the morning.

Worked a lot on the turret part, created bearing stacks based off a reference, and started on the shooter. It’s really hard to get the compression and spacings right because there’s a lot of dead zone in the turret bearing stack and the shooter wheel also takes up a lot of space. I also want to try out different things, which will take a bit of time to model.

I have finally finished the first version of the drivetrain. Right now it has a 1:4 gear reduction, connected to a 1:3 belt reduction on a 5800rpm motor for a 483 rpm final rpm on a 104mm wheel. The entire setup is on dead axles, with heavily reinforced side plates. I also ensured to optimize space as much as possible which meant organizing both gear trains and the motors in order to maximize space.
